Provincial Young Physicians Association, a fulcrum of poor patients

Over the past time, provincial Young Physicians Association expanded a task of gathering young physicians full of ardor and actively got involved in many volunteer activities for the sake of the community, becoming a fulcrum of poor patients in the province.

The association has been developed from provincial Young Physicians Club with 627 members together with Young Physicians Clubs at the local hospitals.

Over the past years, the association took part in significant activities, including providing free medical check-ups and medicine, visiting and presenting gifts to policy beneficiary families, mobilizing young people to give blood, launching a movement on scientific research, creating a good environment for physicians to train medical ethics…

Under the campaign of “Volunteer actions for community’s health”, the association last year provided free medical check-ups, medicine, gifts and propaganda leaflets for more than 1,200 poor people, heroic Vietnamese mothers, policy beneficiary families and ethnic minority people with a total value of more than VND170mln.

The festive day following Uncle Ho’s teachings, volunteering for the community’s health was seen as a peak activity of the campaign. Accordingly, provincial Women’s Union and Young Physicians Association jointly held training courses on first-aid skills, how to prevent measles for more than 120 teachers at province-based preschools and primary schools; kicked off a voluntary blood donation program, provided free medical check-ups and medicine for locals and young workers.

Under the Youth Union Central Committee’s instruction, provincial Young Physicians Association and its affiliates successfully carried out the 2014 program named “Journey for elderly people’s health”. The program provided free medical check-ups, medicine and gifts for more than 600 elderly people; made dissemination of information about healthcare among them.

The association also promoted a program of “Paying tribute to heroic Vietnamese mothers” with the following contents: maintaining 36 heroic Vietnamese mothers; joining hands with Ben Cat town-based My Phuoc General Hospital to provide free medical check-ups and medicine for mothers; coordinating with the local authorities to recheck and give a suggestion of recognizing more than 400 mothers as heroic Vietnamese ones…

Such these apart, provincial Young Physicians Association has attached special importance to uniting and gathering young physicians, which was implemented in a synchronous way from provincial to district levels. The whole province has so far set up 7 Young Physicians Clubs at all levels. Over the past time, provincial Young Physicians Association and its affiliates voluntarily got involved in public healthcare. The association also organized talk shows on the issues of professional skills, how to organize volunteer activities for the community’s health, how to use socialization resources to make public healthcare…

Doctor Huynh Tran Duong Giang, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial Young Physicians Association said: “In the coming time, the association will further carry out volunteer youth works for the community’s health. Members of the association will take initiative in improving their professional competence at the association’s development demand”.

After five-year establishment, the association provided free medical check-ups and treatment for nearly 20,000 people with a total expense of more than VND3bln. With the theme of “the Year of Volunteer Youth”, the association registered to carry out a program of “Paying tribute to heroic Vietnamese mothers” and took part in the “festive day following Uncle Ho’s teachings, volunteering for the community’s health”, “Journey taking care of elderly people’s health”.
