According to the assessment of provincial leaders and Traffic Safety Committee, the situation of traffic accidents in the province felt on all 3 criteria (including the numbers of accidents, fatalities and injuries), due to many reasons. One of main reasons leading to this reduction was that the local sectors and mass organizations had a good coordination in the task of propagandizing traffic laws. Provincial Youth Union was a typical example for propaganda work in this field.
Over the past time, provincial Youth Union sped up dissemination of information about traffic laws among the local youth, raising their awareness of traffic safety. Accordingly, provincial Youth Union took initiative in setting mobile teams to mend punctures and collect nails on the annual Tet and Thien Hau Lady Temple festivals. As many as 250 local Youth Union members were responsible for giving pilgrims directions and joined hands with the local functional forces to keep traffic safety and order at crossroads…
The local young volunteers also actively responded to the campaign of “Youth with traffic culture” via many significant activities, including organizing propaganda contests, art performances, talk shows; building up “Safe school gate” models; setting up “mang non” (young shoot) clubs on traffic safety propaganda; mobilizing 100% of pupils not to drive motorbikes and not to violate traffic laws…
So far, the whole province has set up 500 teams with more than 55,000 young volunteers on making law dissemination and taking part in controlling over 295 km of roads, 245 safe school gates, 7 ferry stations, 150 traffic points…It is expected that more than 2,000 driving licences of A1 class will be granted for young workers under a joint program between Honda An Thanh Company and the Job Placement Center’s Driving Test Center under provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs.
Provincial Youth Union now makes a survey to set up youth volunteer points on first-aid for traffic accidents on highway 1A at the section passing through Di An and Thuan An towns. Of these, the first-aid point in Thuan An town is seen as a national youth work to welcome the 12th National Party Congress.
Provincial Youth Unions at al levels have also taken initiative in implementing many plans to maintain traffic safety and order. Particularly, they have further maintained young volunteer models taking part in keeping traffic safety-order and urban order in communes and wards; kicked off contests and exhibitions on traffic safety; organized a ceremony to launch dissemination of information about the Law on Road Traffic, the Law on Railway, the Law on Inland Waterway Transport…
TDM city’s Club on Law Dissemination in the first half of the year also organized 12 shows on dissemination of the Law on Road Traffic for 16 Youth Union branches, sub-unions for young workers at lodging facilities… with the participation of more than 1,400 Youth Union members, young workers, pupils and people. Youth Union members at the city-based schools actively took part in keeping traffic safety and order; realized the “Clean-beautiful and safe school gate” youth work…
