2016 Lunar New Year is coming; caring for the poor on Tet occasion is paid much attention by all provincial levels, sectors through carrying out diverse forms of activity; thereby, poor families are able to have a warm Tet. Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Huynh Van Nhi (photo), Chairman of provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Deputy Head of provincial Standing Committee the campaign "Day for the Poor".
- Sir, which plans did provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee (VFFC) set up to take care of the poor on Tet occasion?
- Implementing the guidelines of Standing Committee of Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and PPC’s plan on organizing activities in order for the people to welcome Tet happily, unitedly, safely, economically, right from mid-December 2015, Standing Committee of provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee set up plans for the poor supporting programs.
Accordingly, during 2016 Tet, the province will give gifts worth totally over 20 billion VND to 3,190 poor households, 1,508 children in difficult circumstances and 26,465 social policy beneficiaries. In addition, VFFC at all levels, affiliates also set up plans to take care of the poor and implemented these activities since the end of 2015, for example, calling for Tet gifts presented to the poor, visiting and giving gifts to provincial social sponsoring centers; taking care of poor workers at lodging houses; donating 5,000 free bus tickets to workers to return home on Tet occasion.
- How is the initial result of the campaign caring for the poor of this year, sir?
- Caring for the poor is one of major policies of the Party and State. Therefore, every year VFFC at all levels receive huge contributions from the community to take care of the poor. VFFC at all levels have received over 8 million gifts worth 200,000 - 600,000 VND each given to poor, disadvantaged households on Tet occasion.
Some enterprises, units making contributions were: Kien Long Commercial Bank, provincial Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, provincial Catholic Solidarity Committee, Becamex IDC, Thalexim, Binh Duong Minerals and Construction Corporation, Vietnam Yazaki EDS Company, HCMC Korea - Kocham Trade and Industry Association, the representative of Chinese Community – TDM City, Binh Duong Water Supply Sewerage – Environment Company, Binh Duong Lottery, Trung Thao home appliances…
- Sir, how can these gifts given to all and right subjects of poor people?
- In order for these gifts to be given to all and right subjects, provincial Steering Committee of "Day for the Poor" has acted as the core to receive gifts, introduce proper subjects, places for organizations, individuals to directly give gifts to poor people; thereby overcoming the duplication in giving gifts to the poor, preventing repeated gift giving while others received nothing. We also directed VFFC of districts, towns, city, affiliates to monitor, synthesize data on activities caring for the poor on Tet occasion; coordinate units, localities in the province to distribute money, gifts to right subjects, fairly, publicly, transparently.
- In order for all families, people to have a warm Tet, in your opinion, how should each person show responsibilities?
- Units, enterprises, or people should join hands to support disadvantaged people living right at their area. Neighborhood is still the most practical way to help the poor on Tet occasion. Simultaneously, the authorities at all levels must be more active in identifying subjects for timely supports.
I think, thanks to the attention of the Party, State and joined hands of the whole society to care for the poor, everyone, every family will have a happy and warm Tet. The whole community has brought a warm grace Tet to all poor persons.
