Over the past 4 years, the Party Committee, government and people of Long Nguyen commune in Bau Bang district brought into full play advantageous conditions and mobilized all sources to fulfill criteria of the new rural construction program.
Particularly, Long Nguyen commune last year reached all 19 criteria of the new rural construction program. This has helped locals enjoy benefits with socio-economic infrastructure step by step perfected. The lives of locals have also been improved with the average income of VND39mln per person per year.

Vo Van Truong, Vice-Secretary of Long Nguyen commune’s Party Committee cum Chairman of the communal People’s Committee said that members of the commune’s New Rural Construction Program Management Board were assigned to be in charge of each hamlet to opportunely remove difficulties in the process of implementing the program. Over the past 4 years, the commune’s total capital mobilized for the program was more than VND838bln, including VND415 from State budget and more than VND393mln from locals. Thanks to general strength upheld, all 19 criteria of the new rural construction program were fulfilled by Long Nguyen commune one year earlier than planned…
To enhance the quality of criteria of the program, Long Nguyen commune has attached special importance to farm and collective economic models. The whole commune is now home to more than 100 animal husbandry farms and there are also around 80 households getting involved in models combining between cultivation-animal husbandry. Many farms have also applied sci-tech advancements in production for higher economic efficiency. The air-conditioned chicken farm of Doan Cong Hieu, Vice-Chairman of the communal Veterans Society is a typical example for this. With around 30,000 chickens, the hi-tech based farm helps his family secure the annual income of VND800mln.
Hieu who has lived in the commune for 20 years said: “Previously, Long Nguyen is very poor, but now it sees a lot of changes with solidly-built houses, clean and beautiful streets, spacious schools…”.
In the face of rubber latex prices on reduction, the local government has braced up locals to change to other agricultural models, according to Vo Van Truong, Vice-Secretary of Long Nguyen communal Party Committee. The commune has still recommended locals not to cut down their rubber gardens, due to some reasons.
To improve the quality of criteria of a new rural commune, Long Nguyen has bent on socio-economic infrastructure development, made a proper shift of economic structure that associates agricultural production with home industrial and services development…Till 2020, the commune will strive to reach an economic structure with 60%-63% in agriculture, 22%-25% in services, 9%-12% in industry…The average income per capita will be VND58mln a year. The ratio of poor households herein will reduce to 1%...
