Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development has held a training session to raise farmers' awareness of the harmful effects of pesticides in Lac An and Hieu Liem communes, North Tan Uyen district.
The training consisted of experimental contents of spraying colored solution combined with wearing hypothetical white paper protective suits to verify the spattering possibility of pesticides over sprayers; and discussing, sharing knowledge, experience in choosing and using plant protection drugs. The results of the experimental spraying of coloring solution showed that with only 5 minutes of spraying at high altitudes, the spattering rate of colored products over hats - shirts - pants is 20% - 30% - 40%, while this figure at low-altitude spraying is 0% - 10% - 20%.
At the training, Nguyen Van Nhut, Head of Plant Protection Department under provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, communicated harmful effects of plant protection drugs to more than 30 farmers, and showed farmers how to choose and use safely. Specifically, when spraying plant protection drugs, farmers need to equip labor protection suits, such as wearing long-sleeved clothes, wearing masks, glasses, wearing wide-brimmed hats, and shoes, boots to ensure their own health and safety.
