To help poor worker’s children to follow their dream of going to school, in the last 22 years, Procter & Gamble Vietnam Company (P&G) cooperated with Provincial Labor Confederation to award P&G scholarships named "Raising your wings". The program has given more strength to thousands of poor students to continue their learning.

Learning to change their lives
Fatherless Tran Thi Cuc, a student of Thai Hoa high school, Tan Uyen town, lived with her mother. Her mother had to work hard to make their living and Cuc’s school fee exhausted. Spinal cord cancer of the mother. When Cuc was in 9th grade, her loving mother also passed away because of marrow cancer. Cuc tried her best to learn well to change her life, to repay her mother and teachers. Since then, Cuc studied arduously, although she helped her brothers and sisters to earn money. Her learning results was amazing, was excellent student in 12 consecutive years. She was well-behaved and a good example of poor studious student. Life was more difficult, when Cuc had to cover her tuition fee and spending to go to university. However, with determination and energy, her wish that learning to change a difficult life has motivated her to try harder.
With a desire for learning to change lives, Nguyen Huynh Ngoc Phuong is a student of 6th grade of Tan Vinh Hiep primary school (Tan Uyen Town). Phuong is a fatherless child, and her mother suffers tuberculosis. Their livings depend on the mother’s small salary. Despite of difficult circumstance, Phuong is an excellent student of the school, and is loved by teachers and friends. Talking about her dreams: "I wish I would become a teacher later to help disadvantaged students like me”.
These above were two of poor but excellent worker’s children at the scholarship offering ceremony. They had different circumstances, but with strong will and energy, they have overcome their difficulties to continue learning.
Helping worker’s children to go to school
A new school year begins, everyone is expecting a good school year of good quality and high effectiveness. All parents would like their children to go to school, study and train to become good persons. But to students in difficult circumstances, how to have books and clothes for children on this school day is always a concern of parents. To children receiving P&G scholarship, this was a meaningful gift that P&G gave to them on occasion of the new school year beginning. The P&G scholarship program in 2018-2019 school year for disadvantaged worker’s children organized by Provincial Labor Confederation in cooperation with Procter & Gamble Vietnam Company (P&G) gave good impressions to everyone. P&G also awarded 150 scholarships worth VND1 million each to poor and excellent worker’s children.
This was the 22nd P&G Vietnam joined the program with total over 2,200 presented scholarships. In many years, the program has created a motivation for poor and disadvantaged worker’s children to achieve high learning results and continue to nurture their learning dreams. Ms. Jenny Yeonardy, P&G Human Resources Manager, said the company committed to continuously performing this meaningful program to encourage Binh Duong youth to stay on learning. In addition to offering annual scholarships, during over 22 years in Vietnam, P&G has contributed to improving life of more than 400,000 unlucky people across Vietnam through social activities, such as : Improving school sanitation for elementary school children in collaboration with UNICEF, Women supporting program in collaboration with Vietnam Women's Union, "Clean drinking water for children" through using P&G filter bags in cooperation with Viet Nam Red Cross, "Building houses for the poor" in Mekong Delta…
"This is a meaningful deed demonstrating a socially responsible enterprise, joining hands with local authorities to take care of and educate children in the province", said Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Chairman of Provincial Labor Confederation. Along with this scholarship program, provincial Labor Confederation also maintains a program "Books of love".
