Tan Uyen town’s Red Cross Society has just held a conference to review its activities in the school bloc for the 2016-2017 academic year; awarded scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils and organized the “opening piggybank” festival 2017.
In the last academic year, the Red Cross branches of schools in the town were created favorable conditions to well fulfill Red Cross movements. They also strengthened propaganda work and organized humanitarian activities by many forms among youths. As a result, they spent more than VND1.62trillion on supporting more than 4,700 needy cases. Through models, namely “Tet for the poor and Agent Orange victims”, “Spring tree”, “Raising piggybank”, “Granting scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils”…, there were 1,624 scholarships, 26 bicycles, 270 schoolbags awarded…
On this occasion, the town’s Red Cross Society held the “opening piggybank” festival 2017 to raise fund for humanitarian activities with VND216million. The society also mobilized donors to award 25 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils. It is known that each scholarship includes VND1million and 10 notebooks.
