Practical effects
To implement well patriotic emulation movement, provincial Red Cross has defined emulation – reward works as an important factor to implement successfully philanthropic tasks. Ms. Tran Thi Lien, Chairwoman of provincial Red Cross, said: “We have paid much attention to emulation – reward works, ensuring fair, objective assessment in order to motivate emulation movements. Therefore, patriotic emulation movements at all levels have developed and attracted a large number of people, and encourage staff, members to fulfill their tasks”.
A noticeable movement of provincial Red Cross was the movement “"Every organization, every individual to be associated with a humanitarian address" launched by the Central Red Cross. In 5 years, provincial Red Cross and its affiliates have supported 70,253 addresses with a total expense of more than VND24.3 billion.

One typical emulation movement was “Tet for the poor and victims of Agent Orange". Every year, on the occasion of New Year, in order for needy families to
have a happy new year, provincial Red Cross mobilized contributions from organizations and individuals. 159, 594 gifts worth totally nearly VND45 billion were given to the poor, the blind, the disabled, victims of Agent Orange, orphans, the elderly, and poor policy families in Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, Tay Ninh, Binh Thuan, Ninh Thuan, Hau Giang, Quang Tri, Gia Lai province, and Cambodia.
Emulation to be associated with studying and following uncle Ho’s teaching
To further promote patriotic emulation movements, provincial Red Cross and its affiliates have combined emulation with the implementation of Directive No. 03-CT/TW dated May 14th 2011 of the Politburo on promoting studying and following uncle Ho’s moral example.
Every Red Cross member studied and followed uncle Ho’s teaching through practical actions. With the motto "Giving blood and save lives - a noble gesture”, voluntary blood donation movement has attracted the participation of 53,657 individuals.
To help needy families in accommodation, provincial Red Cross cooperated with other organizations, businesses, and benefactors to build and repair 281 houses including 233 new ones. , contributing to fulfilling social welfare task in the province.
Promoting the spirit of solidarity in the community, provincial Red Cross have supported regularly and irregularly, offered health insurance book, donated rice to help disadvantaged people with a total expense of over VND66 billion. The organization also offered 21,587 scholarships, uniforms, bikes worth nearly VND18 billion. Mutual funds, rotation funds among members were established to help each other without interests; thereby, mobilized VND97.250 billion to support 35,363 households.
Ms. Tran Thi Lien said, the studying and following uncle Ho’s moral example has been implemented well at all levels through many practical models associated with emulation movements; thereby, raising cadres’ awareness, sense of responsibility.
Performing movements to care for disadvantaged persons is an important mission of provincial Red Cross at all levels in order to join hands with the Party and State to carry out well social welfare works.
