Regional minimum wage for workers increased by VND 200,000 a month from January 1, 2019

Representatives of enterprises attend the conference implementing regulations on regional minimum wage for workers

In the morning of December 26, the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs held a conference to implement the Government's Decree No. 157/2018 / ND-CP stipulating the regional minimum wage level for laborers working in enterprises. Attending the conference was more than 1,000 delegates representing foreign-invested enterprises operating outside the industrial zone in the province.

According to Decree 157, from January 1, 2019, enterprises operating in Binh Duong province apply the regional minimum wage (region I) adjusted to increase from VND 3,980,000 to VND 4,180,000 a month (additionally VND 200,000 a month). The Decree also stipulates that the lowest wage level paid to workers who have passed vocational training must be at least 7% higher than the regional minimum wage. The adjustment of the minimum wage at this time serves as a basis for businesses and workers to be more proactive in negotiating with each other on specific wages.

Along with the full implementation of the regulation on salary adjustment, the participants of the conference were also guided on the principles to be noted when building salary scales for employees; a number of regulations related to labor laws and social insurance policies for employees.
