A requiem for those who died in traffic accidents was held
by provincial Traffic Safety Committee in conjunction with provincial Buddhist
Sangha Executive Board and relevant agencies at Hoi An pagoda in Binh Duong New
City on the evening of November 17.

At the memorial ceremony, more than 1,000 Buddhist monks, nuns, followers, Youth Union members and relatives of victims gathered to pray for the peace of the victims’ souls.
Each day sees an average of nearly 30 dead people and hundreds of others injured on Vietnam’s roads, needlessly taking away lives and burdening the State budget. Over the past 10 months, there were 2,934 traffic accidents reported in Binh Duong, killing 320 and injuring 3,633 others. An average of one person dies and 17 others are injured by traffic accidents each day in Binh Duong.
The memorial ceremony aimed to call for all people to share the grief of the families of traffic accident victims, create a safe traffic environment for the community while raising public awareness of the consequences of traffic accidents.
