The year 2011 marked success year of rubber mini-plantations in the province. Mr. Hai residing at Long Tan Commune, Phu Giao District, put it that price reduction at the end of the season was not comparable to the high price at the beginning of ‘tapping season’.“I am hopeful that the raw latex price will be stable in the coming time so that owners could earn higher income,” he said. For the year, areas of rubber plantations have been increased irrespective of latex price reduction. Farmers recognized high yield from rubber trees and are rushing in. Calculation made on stable latex price shows that owners could earn averagely VND 100 million a year per 1 hectare. Such income is relatively high for farmers who are only familiar with other kinds of parennial plants.Reported by Cao Son – Translated by Vi Bao
