Rural laborers get jobs thanks to vocational learning

Under the Project on giving vocational training for rural laborers, Binh Duong province created favorable conditions for rural laborers to learn vocational skills in line with their capacity over the past time. Some learners have so far set up economic development models, bringing them stable jobs with high income, contributing to ensuring the local social welfare.

Income increased

Five years ago, after completing a class on cooking, Nguyen Thi Ngot in Binh Hoa ward’s Binh Dang quarter in  Thuan An city set up the Binh Dang cooking cooperative group. The cooking cooperative group now has a total of 12 members. Every year, the cooperative group receives 200 party tables in the quarter, VSIP and HCM city. Thus, each member can earn around VND5million per month from cooking for party.

Nguyen Van Nam, Head of Thuan An city’s Division of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said that after 10 years of implementing vocational training for rural laborers, the city coordinated with sectors, mass organizations and localities to mobilize and organize many training vocational classes that were very practical for rural laborers. Noticeably, after being trained, some women established cooperative groups on production and business, generating jobs for themselves and neighbors.

In the 2010-2020 period, provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affair (DoLISA) effectively organized some pilot models on vocational training. The model of “State agencies work with vocational training facilities to organize direct vocational training in communes, wards, townships of the province when laborers need” was a typical example for this. This was the most effective vocational training model done by the province over the past time and it will continue being implemented in the coming time.

Effectiveness from vocational training model

The whole province has as of now organized 70 classes on vocational training for 1,706 rural laborers, or 110.8% of the year’s target.

The province’s vocational training activities have also been adjusted in line with enterprises ‘demand for recruitment. Over the past years, provincial DoLISA coordinated with sectors, departments to actively advise provincial People’s Committee on promulgating instruction documents for implementation; entrusted districts, towns, cities with the task of vocational training for rural laborers in line with targets on new-style rural construction. Provincial DoLISA also actively teamed up with the local and central press agencies to make propaganda on vocational training for rural laborers…

The local implementation of the Directive No.19-CT/TW of the Secretariat of the 11th Party Central Committee dated November 5, 2012 on “strengthening the Party’s leadership over vocational training for rural laborers” has step by step raised officials, Party members’awarness of the significance and importance of vocational training for rural laborers. This task has also contributed to improving workmanship of laborers in general and of rural ones in particular, thereby helping them choice vocational skills in line with their capacity in order to get jobs with stable income, contributing to the local socio-economic development.

Possibly seeing, the province’s development of vocational training models in association with job generation has reached positive results, creating favorable conditions for locals to get jobs and stabilize their lives. Pham Van Tuyen, Deputy Head of provincial DoLISA said that effectively implementing some pilot models on vocational training in localities of the province has helped rural laborers change their awareness of the role and position of vocational training for socio-economic development. After completing training courses, most learners have effectively applied skills learnt, bringing hi-economic efficiency…
