In the face of the farming land shrunk for the industrialization and urbanization process, Thuan An town has learnt to seek a measure to improve economic value on its farming land by promoting the safe vegetable-growing model. This has not only helped meet customers’demand, but also helped improve farmers’lives.
Appropriate to new development trend
Safe vegetable production is now seen as the best selection, which is in line with the new development trend, especially in the international integration process. It also meets people’s increasing demand for safe vegetables.
Thuan An town’s agricultural sector has teamed up with provincial Plant Protection Station to open training courses on how to grow safe vegetables under VietGAP (Vietnamese Agriculture Practices) standards for the local farmers.
Binh Chuan ward now takes lead in the safe vegetable-growing model with 13.8 hectares of safe vegetables. The whole ward is home to 80 farmer households getting involved in the model of growing safe vegetables.
According to Phan Thanh Ngoc, chairman of Binh Chuan ward’s People’s Committee, every year, Binh Chuan ward cooperates with provincial Plant Protection Station to organize training courses on ways to grow safe vegetable under VietGAP standards while regularly taking vegetable samples for research and analysis.
Bringing hi-economic efficiency
Thuan An town’s safe vegetable-growing model has so far brought hi-economic efficiency.

Or, Nguyen Cong Anh, a resident in Binh Chuan ward now owns 4,000 sq.m of safe vegetables. Every year, his family earns more than VND100mln from this cultivation.
According to chairman of Binh Chuan ward’s Farmers’Society, the cultivation of safe vegetables under VietGap standards has seen a threefold increase in yield compared to the old cultivation way. With safe certificates, farmers have also found it easy to consume their safe vegetables…
