Tan Uyen district’s Red Cross Society has just held a conference to sum up its activities and movements at schools in the 2012 and 2013 academic year while awarding 40 scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils. Each scholarship includes 10 notebooks and VND500,000 for high and secondary school pupils; 10 notebooks and VND400,000 each for primary school pupils.
Tan Uyen district now has 40 Red Cross Society branches at district-based schools with more than 5,000 members. The district’s Red Cross activities at schools were implemented effectively in the 2012 and 2013 academic year. Noticeably, the program of “Tet for the Poor” and the movement of “Raising piggybanks” received enthusiastic response from the local Red Cross Society branches at schools with more than VND1.33bln collected. More than 4,600 people with difficulties were offered help from the two events, up 14% compared to the previous academic year.
