September 5, over 316,600 students of the province have jubilantly joined the inauguration of a new school year. In the stage of a new school year, reporters of Binh Duong Newspaper interviewed Mr. Tran Hieu, Deputy Director of Department of Education and Training regarding the preparation and major duties of the sector to be implemented for the time to come.
Reporter: Sir, please generalize the preparation for the new school year of 2014-2015.
Mr. Tran Hieu: To service the new school year of 2014-2015, education and training sector has made thorough preparation for good teaching and learning. The Department coordinated with Department of Internal Affairs to recruit more teachers as per demands of the employment. Accordingly, the sector recruited 1,816 teachers at all grades. In July and August, the department organizes refresher courses for managerial and teaching staffs as well as political courses for managing officers of the Department in summer. Student population in the province keeps growing through years. For this year, additionally 28,000 students have been enrolled. By the date of new school year inauguration, the province has totally 23 storey constructions to satisfy the needs.
Besides, the Department also finances the purchase of books and teaching aids for school libraries and conduct frequent upgrade and repair of the schools. In short, the student population may grow but the department is well-prepared for it.
Reporter: What has been done to make meaningful school starting day as learning and teaching activities have started two weeks earlier, sir?
Mr. Tran Hieu: The school starting include the ceremony and festival. At 7:30 on September 5, the activities are held depending on the school conditions to create utmost promoting atmosphere for a new school year.
Reporter: The school year of 2014-2015 is started with the theme of “Comprehensive reforms, improved effectiveness, and sustainable quality”. What should be done to achieve such targets?
Mr. Tran Hieu: For the new school year of 2014-2015, the sector concentrates on Action Plan No. 81 of Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee in implementing the Resolution No. 29 of the 8th Executive Board in the 11th tenure on “basic and comprehensive reforms of education and training to satisfy the needs of modernization and industrialization orienting to socialism and international integration”.
In the new school year, the sector continue implementing the thêm with major tasks as basic reforms of education and training, development of teaching and managing staffs, and policy reforms for education.
To effectively implement the mentioned duties, before hand, the sector shall develop schooling network and enhance facilities with teaching and learning aids while developing the teaching and managing staffs. As for junior high education, the sector continued with synchronized reforms of teaching, learning, and testing to develop abilities and improve skills in resolving real life issues.
The tasks for the new school years are heavier. Thus, we look forward to all-out efforts of teachers and employees of the sector and to the promoted reforms of management, training, and education to sustain the achievements made in the previous school year.
