To commemorate 60 years of the established sector of publishing, printing and distribution of books in Vietnam (10/10/1952 - 10/10/2012) - the festival of the people working in publishing, printing and distribution of books in Vietnam in general and Binh Duong province in particular.To offer readers with a better understanding of the industry as well as traditional publishing, printing and distribution of books, reporter of Binh Duong provincial Newspaper had an interview with the Director of the Department of Information and Communications, Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen. Reporter: Can you tell us something about the history of publishing, printing and distribution of books in Binh Duong province? Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen: The sector of publishing, printing and distribution of the province was formed very early. After winning back the authority on August 25, 1945 and under the leadership of the provincial Party, the people's government at all levels were quickly established and operation of information and communication was also formed, notably the first speaker of the local revolutionary governments - The Sao Vang (Gold Star) Newspaper printed at Vo Van Van printing house. In the province had to repeatedly switch the printing house locations to avoid enemy raids.But in the spirit of patriotism, love craft, cunning, devoted to his work and the protection and support of the people, officials and employees in the province successfully protected and hid machinery and equipment to ensure continuous operation. The publication of leaflets, slogans, and flyers in tens of thousands of copies were, thus, distributed to officers and people in the temporarily occupied regions and liberated areas. May 5-1962, Nguyen Tan Dat printing house was officially born in Village 5, Nha Mat, Long Nguyen Commune, Ben Cat District, under the direct leadership of the Thu Dau Mot Propaganda and Training, marking a new development of the local printing industry, an important turning point in the career of publishing, printing and distribution of books in the province. For the first time, printing officers and workers were basically trained to operate the most advanced machinery and equipment to produce brighter and more elegant publication by lead letters, servicing wartime communication. "Phu Loi" Press Publications, the voice of the Thu Dau Mot Provincial Party, had played an important role in the delivering contents of policies of the Party to provincial officials and people, contributing to the collection of mass revolution against the enemy. In 1975, in Song Be Printing Factory was established on the basis of the Nguyen Tan Dat Printing House; the new infrastructure and people were for the bid of the new mission: Building and defending homeland of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam. November 18. 1977, Song Be provincial People's Committee decided to establish the local state-own Publisher.In 1983, the local Party Committee had decided to establish Song Be Publisher, under the committee with more than a dozen of officers and employees.
Binh Duong Bookstore (of Binh Duong General Culture Joint Stock Company) is one of the major book distributors in the provinceAfter nearly 10 years of operation, Song Be Publisher had introduced many valuable publications, especially the publications of "Dia chi tinh Song Be" (Geography of Song Be Province), "Tieu doan Phu Loi" (Phu Loi Battalion), "Dan ca Song Be" (Song Be folklore songs), and etc. In 1992, Song Be Publisher was dissolved, completing political tasks assigned by the Party Committee in certain historical periods. Reporter: During the renovation stage, how has the sector of publishing, printing and distribution of books has changed, sir? Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen: Implementing the reform decisions of the Party and the State in the development trend of the socialist market-oriented economy where state-own enterprise reforms existed, the Provincial People's Committee has merged Song Be Printing Factory to Song Be Lottery Co., Ltd., now called Binh Duong Lottery Company Limited. In recent years, the company has invested into new technologies at par with other regional countries and had a team of skilled workers who can produce high-quality printed products. Over the years, the company has in hundreds of millions of products servicing the information - propaganda campaigns and other fields in the social life of the province. Currently, activity in the fields of publishing, printing and distribution in the province has grown quite strongly in both quantity and quality with 568 printing establishments, of which 14 are working in fields of journalism and anti-counterfeit stamps.These facilities have produced more than 160 million products. In the field of publishing, agencies and units have published 143 publications in more than 200,000 copies. It can be affirmed that the gains in the field of publishing, printing and distribution were thanks to provincial policy supported provincial leaders who have creatively applied the guidelines and policies of the Party and the State in accordance with the situation and characteristics of the socio-economic development of Binh Duong Province. Meantime, the provincial authority has offered clear mechanism in the development and encouraged individual and private economic sectors to attract foreign investors to the field. Reporter: Sir, what will the orientations of the industry be for the time to come on basis of promoting the achieved results? Mr. Nguyen Quang Tuyen: In the near future, the Department of Information and Communications will consult with the Provincial People's Committee to plan for development of publishing, printing and distributing books from now til 2015 and orientation to 2020. It is expected that the establishment of Thu Dau Mot University Publisher should service the demand for publishing of textbooks and materials for teaching and researching in the province. At the same time, the Department shall strengthen management activities and create favorable conditions for enterprises operate in accordance with legal regulations, contributing positively and effectively to the cause of socio-economic development of the province. Additionally, the Department shall encourage to invest into advanced technologies and non-stop professional skills training and researches to create the best products with high competitiveness, positively servicing to the cause of social and economic development.
