The Ministry of Health announced on May 8 that an additional seven novel coronavirus (COVID-19) cases have gone on to make a full recovery from the virus and have subsequently been discharged from hospital.
Eleven patients are discharged from hospital on May 5.
Of the discharged cases, two patients are related to Bach Mai hospital, a COVID-19 hotspot in the capital. Most notably, patient 162 is the daughter-in-law of patient 161, one of the most seriously ill cases.
The other case includes patient 209, a resident of Long Bien district in Hanoi who came into close contact with a COVID-19 patient from Bach Mai hospital.
In addition, patient 243 and patient 260 are confirmed to come from Ha Loi village in Me Linh district, another hotspot in the capital.
The remaining three patients, No.130, No. 212, and No. 226, are all repatriated Vietnamese nationals who arrived in the country from Spain and Russia and were all quarantined upon their arrival.
All seven patients received a successful discharge from the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi on May 8 after recording several consecutive negative tests for the novel coronavirus. Indeed, the entire group is currently enjoying stable health with none of them displaying any symptoms of the virus such as a fever, a cough, or shortness of breath.
Following their discharge from hospital, each individual will now be placed into isolation in order to undergo a mandatory 14-day observation period in an effort to ensure that there is no possibility of the virus reoccurring.
As of the morning of May 8, 240 individuals out of a total of 288 COVID-19 cases have gone on to make a full recovery nationwide, equivalent to 83%, with no deaths caused as a result of the virus.
