From October 17 to November 18, provincial Mobilization Board of the “For the Poor” Fund actively mobilized organizations and individuals to make contributions to the fund. As a result, province-based enterprises raised more than VND5bln for the fund. Many also promised to further make contributions to the fund.

Of the total figure, VND2bln came from Binh Duong Minerals and Construction Joint Stock Company. The company spends VND5-VND6bln on social charity activities annually, according to company Deputy General Director Nguyen Thi Thanh My.

Bringing into play the local inner strength, Binh Duong now has no more poor households under the central poverty line. But, the province has raised its poverty line. Accordingly, after two-year escape from poverty, households are still enjoyed support policies in order to help them escape from poverty in a sustainable manner. For near-poor households, they also continue being supported by many forms, helping them raise their living standards.
Huynh Van Nhi, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) said that poor people in Binh Duong have actually escaped from poverty, stabilizing their lives. The result came from the efforts by provincial FFCs and their membership organizations in taking care of the poor 0ver the past time. Upholding this, provincial Mobilization Board of “the Day for the Poor” Fund will carry out a lot of support activities for the poor, including joining hands with relevant agencies to provide free medical check-up, building great unity houses, presenting gifts on Tet and great holidays…Provincial FFCs at all levels and their membership organizations will further support the poor in economic development, contributing to stabilizing their lives.
According to statistics, the rate of poor households under the new poverty of the province is now 1.52% while the rate of near-poor ones is 1.68%…The result shows that the campaign of the “Day for the Poor” has contributed to reducing the rate of the local poor households, helping the locality well realize the national target program on poverty reduction, ensuring social welfare.
