Socialization in taking care of the poor

Recently, Party committees and local authorities in the province have made efforts into organizing charity and social activities, encouraging businesses to take care of the poor. This activity contributed to improving the lives of people, reducing poverty rate in the province.

Binh Duong provincial Association of Korean Enterprises presents a charity house to the poor.

Side by side

Binh Duong provincial Association of Korean Enterprises held a program of giving money to compassionate house construction for the poor. This was the sincere heart of businesses to the poor. Thirteen families having difficult circumstances received charity houses with the total expense of over VND 1 billion.

Nguyen Thi Em in Phu Loi ward (Thu Dau Mot City) is one example of poor households. The family only has 2 persons, but Ms. Em’s son has been paralyzed for 2 years. Assets in this house went away one by one to treat her son. "The timely support of the government and benefactors is a great spiritual encouragement and helps my family overcome difficulties in life," she said. The joy of Ms. Em's family is also the joy of many families who were supported to build a house. It is known that not only handing over houses to the poor, over the past 6 years, the provincial Association of Korean Enterprises gave scholarships, home construction, and Tet gifts with a total expense of over VND6 billion. This is a noble gesture, great encouragement to help the poor rise up.

In addition to provincial Association of Korean Enterprises, activities to take care and build houses for the poor also had the participation of many businesses. Recently, Southern Power Corporation and Binh Duong Power Company collaborated with provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee to present houses to the poor in Ben Cat Town. Previously, Southern Power Corporation had built 10 gratitude houses for policy families, people with revolutionary achievements who had difficulty in housing. The total expense was VND800 million, of which Southern Power Corporation donated VND500 million and provincial Gratitude fund provided VND300 million. To the poor, the houses were not only material gift but also a very meaningful consolation, helping them to overcome difficulties and stabilize their lives.

Joining hands to share difficulties

To perform multi-dimensional poverty reduction program in the new period, Binh Duong makes efforts to provide vocational training and job creation for the poor. Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs in collaboration with provincial Sponsoring Association for People with Disabilities, Orphans and Poor Patients piloted the model "Vocational training and job creation based on the community for the poor". Ha Minh Trung, Deputy Director of Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs, said: “A good point of this model is that the entire 800 million VND funding is from mobilization and socialization. In addition to the cost of vocational training, local government actively called for and negotiated with vocational training schools to exempt vocational trainees, reduce fees in the spirit of mutual affection, support of the community for the poor. Therefore, this model achieved the best financial support from organizations and individuals inside and outside the province”.

Regarding the socialization of caring activities for the poor, provincial Children Support Fund also had many effective programs to take care of children having especially difficult circumstances. Provincial Children Support Fund received a lot of love, the support of economic organizations, businesses, and individuals inside and outside the province for disadvantaged children. The commitment of benefactors has a practical meaning in caring for unfortunate lives. In 2019, Provincial Children Support Fund encouraged total socialization capital of VND 9.5 billion to implement programs for poor children, helping them to go to school and develop in all aspects.
