Socially-privileged families in Thu Dau Mot city sponsored in all aspects

Upholding the tradition of gratitude, Thu Dau Mot city has over the years performed well the tasks of taking care of the socially-privileged families in myriad practical works. At present, the city has no socially-privileged families belonging to poor households. The life of policy beneficiaries, invalids and martyrs' families in the area is increasingly stable.

A good range of caring activities

Thu Dau Mot City currently has nearly 1,400 policy beneficiaries receiving monthly preferential subsidies. Informing the work of taking care of such families in the area, Vi Thi Tam Lai, Head of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Thu Dau Mot city, said: The city has focused on fully implementing, timely regimes for socially-privileged families and people with meritorious services as prescribed in the central mission. In addition, localities periodically review the living standards of such families and people with meritorious services. Thereby, on detecting which families are in difficulty, the locality concentrates on taking care such as supporting loans for economic development, creating jobs for children of working age, and ensuring income sources. Families who have difficulty in housing should be helped to build houses. The locality where they permanently reside must be responsible for mobilizing more businesses and benefactors to support and take better care of them.

According to Vi Thi Tam Lai, in the first 6 months of 2023, the city's Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs implemented many activities such as repairing a house for a family in Phu Tho ward worth VND 25 million, building a new house for the family of martyrs in Chanh Nghia ward at the amount of VD 80 million, mobilizing contributions to build the Gratitude Fund in order to take care of the lives of policy beneficiaries with difficult circumstances, and timely grasping the life situation of policy subjects.

In addition, the city focuses on timely processing of dossiers on the regime for policy beneficiaries and people with meritorious services without leaving a backlog or allowing eligible beneficiaries to not be considered and resolved according to the laws. It also urges the wards to review, repair, upgrade and embellish the works of stele houses bearing the names of martyrs and martyrs' memorials to ensure cleanliness and beauty to serve as a place to educate the nation's revolutionary tradition for today's younger generation and future.

At the same time, the city also deployed to the wards to organize rewards for war invalids, martyrs' families, organizations and individuals with achievements in exemplary observance of the CPV's guidelines, the State's laws and policies in the place of residence to overcome difficulties to rise up in life and participate well in the work for war invalids and martyrs by reviewing and making a list of registration for general health check-ups for hundreds of people with meritorious services.

The welfare of giving back

Every year, in addition to regular life care activities, the welfare for families and people with meritorious services in the city is done thoughtfully on holidays and Tet. On the occasion of the 76th anniversary of Invalids and Martyrs' Day (July 27, 1947 to July 27, 2023), Thu Dau Mot city plans to spend gifts for 3,856 people belonging to 16 groups of subjects such as wounded soldiers, sick soldiers, and families with revolutionary meritorious services, families of martyrs, and resistance activists infected with toxic chemicals at a total amount of more than VND 3.2 billion from local and provincial budgets. In which, the provincial budget is more than VND 2 billion. From now to July 27, the city will set up delegations to visit Vietnamese heroic mothers, armed forces heroes, and typical policy families having difficult circumstances or in frequent illness.

Huynh Van Liem, a ¼ class wounded soldier living in Phu Hoa ward shared that every year, families like him feel very happy and excited because they are cared for. It is even more fun when over the years, comprehensive care activities for policy families have been better implemented. “Families in difficulty are supported with housing; as their children reach adulthood, they are supported with vocational training and stable jobs. For isolated cases, localities provide regular monthly care with money, necessities, free medical examination to ensure daily life. In general, the family life is increasingly supported by localities and levels, and the standard of living is much higher than before," said Huynh Van Liem.

Talking about the work of gratitude in the locality, Phan Cong Khanh, Secretary of the Party Committee of Phu Hoa ward, said that every June, the locality deploys for each neighborhood to review the socially-privileged family life. If the family has children of working age who do not have a stable job, the locality will connect with businesses in the area to apply for a job, ensuring a source of income. Families who need business capital will be monitored and supported by the locality with capital sources for economic development.

“In general, depending on each family situation, the locality will have a suitable way to support, so there would be no poor households in the ward. During the holidays and New Year, the locality mobilizes a number of businesses to support, and set up groups to visit, give gifts, and encourage families to rise up in all aspects in addition to the prescribed policies," said Phan Cong Khanh.
