Solar power should be promoted

A few years ago, solar power was rather new; however, it is now becoming an effective resort to save energy used.

Experts estimate that it cost about USD 0.25 to produce 1 kWh of solar power. The amount can be reduced to USD 0.15 or even USD 0.10 in sunny areas while solar cells may last over 20 years

Mr. Tran Manh Cuong – Director of Solar BK in the Southern region, puts it that one solar power system will be paid back in 4 years while the company warrants for 5 years. Three 3kW systems generate approximately 10-15 kWh which can supply power for 15-18 hours not for air-conditioners or high capacity devices. Thus, customers can save up to 1/3 of their payment to power suppliers.

In Vietnam, renewable hydroelectric power is accounted for 40% of total national production and is fully exploited in reasonable limitation of ecosystem and environment. Meanwhile, wind power is only exploitable in islands and coastal areas. Solar power is everywhere.

Solar power is promising in Binh Duong Province where the weather is sunny most of the time without natural disasters or storms.

“We identify that the market for solar power in Binh Duong Province is major. Binh Duong is a place of high development into a green and clean urban. It is a big chance for our development,” said Mr. Cuong in explaining why his company has chosen to set up its main office in Binh Duong Province to represent Solar BK in the Southern region from Khanh Hoa to Ca Mau.

Solar power is applied more in Binh Duong, for example, Becamex Horizon Building is designed with a water boiling system by solar power which can supply 60-oC 1,800 liters of water per day. Solar power is averagely used in Ecolakes and Binh Duong City. Sai Gon Tan Tec Company has recently put into operation one solar power system which can generate 100kWh per day to power the production line and waste treatment system.
