Provincial People's Committee has just issued Action Plan on maternal, newborn and child health care in Binh Duong for the period of 2017-2020. This is to improve maternal and child health, reduce maternal mortality, neonatal mortality and child mortality through interventions and effective implementation of preventive measures. Areas and regions with difficult condition are priopritized in order to reduce differences between regions in accessing and using maternal and newborn care services. This is also a contribution to the Strategy for People's Health Protection, Care and Development in period 2011-2020, in vision till 2030. Targets for 2020, regarding pregnant women and children, are to reduce the maternal mortality ratio to <20 / 100,000 live births; Increase the proportion of pregnant women receiving at least 3 antenatal care visits in 3 periods > 95%; > 99% of women giving birth with supports of medical staff; the proportion of women aged 15-19 years using modern contraception by 64.6%; Percentage of women giving birth and tested for HIV> 96% ... For infants and young children, the target are to reduce neonatal mortality / 1,000 live births by <5%; reduce under-1 aged child mortality / 1,000 by <6%; percentage of children who are exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months by 40%; > 85% of children to be breastfed in the first hour after birth... In order to carry out the above project, provincial leaders asked the concerned departments, branches and units to advise on investment in material facilities and equipment; to increase and supplement specialized human resources and improve professional capacity of obstetric / neonatal staff at all levels; actively communicate and propagate...
