Late September 16, provincial Child Support Fund organized the 2013 Mid-Autumn program with many significant activities, including awarding scholarships to pupils with difficulties. This was one of provincial Child Support Fund’s activities to take care of needy children across the province.
Joyful Mid-Autumn festival
Like previous years, children with difficulties in the province had a chance to meet and play together before attending the annual Mid-Autumn festival for them. This year, they were taken to provincial Museum and Phu Loi Prison Historical Relic. This was a very significant activity to educate them about patriotic spirit and national pride.
Nguyen Thanh Hung, a 7th grader of Nguyen Van Troi junior high school in Thuan An town said that the visit to the above venues has helped him and his friends to widen their knowledge and applied them into lessons at school. Attending the Mid-Autumn festival was also a chance for him and other needy children to share mutual experience in study and encourage each other to overcome difficulties for better results in study.
At 15:30 of September 16, all children gathered at the hall A of provincial People’s Committee to attend the 2013 Mid-Autumn festival with many significant activities. The festival took place jubilantly with special items performed by the Mang Non art troupe under provincial Cultural House for Children, Doremi group and many other famous artists.
Children are seen as green buds of the nation. Hence, the Party, State and the whole society always pay attention to taking care of children, especially those with extremely difficult circumstance. The annual Mid-Autumn festival is also a chance for authorities at all levels to express their attention and love to children.
Huynh Van Nhi, Vice-Chairman of provincial Child Support Fund said that after 16 years of operation, provincial Child Support Fund and donors have got involved in many significant programs for poor-but-excellent children, including building houses of compassion, awarding scholarships, visiting and presenting gifts to them on Tet and great holidays. The above support programs have contributed to helping many children overcome difficulties and make their dreams come true.
Making children’s dreams come true
One of the annual Mid-Autumn festival’s important contents was to award scholarships to poor-but-excellent pupils. Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Chairwoman of provincial Child Support Fund said: “Our task is to connect kind hearts together. We have so far received great contributions from donors to bring needy children significant gifts. More than 30 enterprises have contributed cash and gifts worth VND1.5bln to this year’s Mid-Autumn festival for children with difficulties. Upon this, we have awarded 361 scholarships worth VND411mln, 52 bicycles worth VND104mln, 8 sets of computers worth VND70.4mln and 1,100 gifts to needy children across the province”.
Despite difficulties, province-based enterprises have regularly joined hands with provincial Child Support Fund to take care of the local children. Duong Hoang Son, Deputy General Director of Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment One-Member Co.Ltd. said that his company has annually funded construction of “comrade” houses; supported Agent Orange victims, awarded scholarships and bicycles to pupils with difficulties…The company has also always made contributions to provincial Child Support Fund. Particularly, the company has contributed VND174mln in cash and gifts to the scholarships-giving program.
The festival’s gifts for children with difficulties have also expressed the attention and love of authorities at all levels and donors to children on the occasion of the 2013 Mid-Autumn festival and the 2013-2014 new academic year. Nguyen Pham Hanh Phuc, a pupil of Vinh Hoa junior high school in Phu Giao district said: “…This is the fifth year I has received the scholarship from provincial Child Support Fund. I was actually moved by the attention of provincial leaders and donors for me and other needy children. This will be a great motivation for us to overcome difficulties in life and rise up to gain better results in study to be worthy of all people’s love and belief”.
The festival concluded with many emotional images when leaders of provincial Party Committee, People’s Council and People’s Committee presented Mid-Autumn gifts to children. With the attention of the whole society, children with difficulties in the province this year enjoyed a significant Mid-Autumn festival.
