Sparkling compassionate hearts

 

Many excellent collectives and individuals have emerged from patriotic emulation movement of provincial Red Cross. They have been sparkling jewels bringing joy and love to everyone…

* Mr. Huynh Van Rang: Being enthusiastic in philanthropic movements

In 2014, 84-year-old Mr. Huynh Van Rang living in Lai Thieu ward, Thuan An town officially achieved Asian record for “The most oldest person conquering Fansipan mountain at the 3,143m altitude for the 4th time”. His training spirit is admirable. He also engages enthusiastically in charity activities in the province.

In many years, he and his family have taken part in Red Cross activities of giving gifts to the poor, the blind, the disabled, victims of Agent Orange in and outside the province; offering houses to needy families; conferring scholarships on poor studious pupils; supporting charity kitchens of Thuan An town Health Centre and provincial General Hospital; providing relief for people in in disaster areas; voluntary blood donation…

Due to his achievements in humanitarian activities, Mr. Huynh Van Rang was given medals for the humanity cause by Vietnam Central Red Cross; certificate of merits by provincial People’s Committee and many other certificates.

* Nun Thich Nu Phap Nhu: Happiness comes from giving

Nun Thich Nu Phap Nhu, Head of Tay Thien Pagoda in Di An ward, Di An town, is one prominent individual in patriotic emulation movements of provincial Red Cross.

Nun has taken part in charity activities of provincial Red Cross in many years, and considered this as a meaningful deed ringing joy and happiness to everyone… Nun has also encouraged other Buddhists to contribute to these activities, such as: giving gifts to the poor, the blind, the disabled; proving relief for people in disaster areas; supporting needy families, ethnic minorities, and poor people in Laos and Cambodia.

Nun said: “I'm just a grain of sand between a desert. Charity works need the participation of many people to succeed”.

To recognize contributions of nun Thich Nu Phap Nhu to charity works, Vietnam Central Red Cross conferred many certificates of merits and medals for the humanity cause; provincial People’s Committee and Red Cross also presented certificates of merit to nun.
