Spreading love for Thu land

Upholding the tradition of "mutual love, mutual affection" and with the spirit of "good leaves cover torn leaves", over the past time, many owners of the lodging facilities in Thu Dau Mot city hesitated to partially reduce their income to share and encourage lodgers to continue trying, quickly overcoming difficulties and feeling secure in staying in Binh Duong to work. As the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival is approaching, there will be many sharing activities, sending love and gifts to lodgers with the hope that they will ease some of their difficulties for a warm Tet.

Sharing with lodgers

In 2023, the economic situation was still be difficult. Many workers living away from home had their working hours reduced or their jobs were temporarily suspended. All made their lives more difficult. Understanding the difficulties of lodgers, Nguyen Thi Luyen, the owner of a lodging facility in Phu Tan ward’s quarter 1 decided to partially reduce the monthly rental fees for lodgers. She has done this since the Covid-19 pandemic, with the reduction level of VND300,000 - VND 500,000 per room per month, depending on the time. Not only reducing rental fees,  she has also regularly visited, shared and mentally encouraged lodgers. She shared: "Tet is almost here. Instead of buying gifts, I give each room VND 500,000 in lucky money so that lodgers can buy whatever they want. Even though it's not much, everyone will be happy at the end of the year."

Having had the opportunity to visit some lodging facilities with sentimental attachment in Thu Dau Mot city, we felt a lot of love and sharing multiplying through kind activities between owners of the lodging facilities and lodgers. The family of Huynh Kim Tan in Phu Hoa ward’s quarter 7 has 35 lodging rooms. Like many other proprietors, his family has partially reduced monthly rental fees for lodgers. Every year, when Tet comes, he gives Tet gifts to those staying at the lodging facility. During the past epidemic season, he offered free rental charges to lodgers for many months. When the epidemic ended, he also reduced 50% of rental charges for lodgers for many consecutive months. This Tet, his family will reduce rental charges by VND 200,000 for each room and give an additional gift worth VND 200,000. “In the current difficult situation, lodging facility owners like us also need to partially share with lodgers to get through it together. I just hope that next year the economic situation will develop so that people can stabilize and stay with us for a long time, working together to make our Thu - Binh Duong land more and more prosperous", Mr. Tan shared.

Taking us to her family's lodging facility, Bui Thi Mai in Phu Hoa ward’s quarter 5, pointed to the large vacant land in front of her house that had just been leveled and said: "I'm preparing for a site to organize a year-end party for lodgers. She will invite all the lodgers to join the year-end party. After a year of being together, this is the time for the homeowner and lodgers to sit together…”. It is known that in addition to reducing each room’s rental charge by VND 500,000 and organizing a year-end party, Mrs. Mai is also preparing more gifts for all lodgers.

Spreading love

Pham Thi Y's entire family of 4 people is staying at Nguyen Thi Luyen's lodging facility in Phu Tan ward with the monthly rental charge of VND 2.5 million. The couple's income is used to pay for the room, daily meals and take care of their two small children... so they have to put all expenses neatly. During difficult times, Ms. Y's family and many people staying here received help from Mrs. Luyen by reducing monthly rental charges. Talking about the support of the lodging facility owner, Mrs. Pham Thi Y said: "The monthly reduction of the room rent by the landlady with several hundred thousand dong also helped my family somewhat. With the amount of money the proprietor gave me, I was able to manage many things such as buying milk or paying for my child's school fees..."

Under the direction of leaders of Thu Dau Mot city,  Phu Loi ward is also mobilizing owners of the lodging facilities to exempt or reduce rental charges fees for lodgers during this year's Tet festival. Lai Thai Hoa, Vice-Chairman of Phu Loi ward’s People's Committee said that after being mobilized by the locality, lodging facility owners have registered to exempt or reduce rental fees during the 2024 Tet festival for lodgers with a total amount as of January 12 of nearly VND 150 million.

“This is a deed that demonstrates the spirit of "mutual love and mutual affection" of the Vietnamese people in the context of the economic situation still facing difficulties. This sharing will provide some support for workers staying at the local lodging facilities. The locality will further mobilize more lodging facility owners to waive or reduce rental charges for difficult cases during Tet. For lodgers  who cannot afford to return home for Tet, the ward will also mobilize more socialization resources to give warm gifts for them, encouraging them to stay in the locality to have a happy Tet", Mr. Hoa said.

Vo Thi Bach Yen, Vice-Secretary of Thu Dau Mot city’s Party Committee said that in order to join hands and share with the difficulties of lodgers, Thu Dau Mot city’s Steering Committee of the project on "Building a civilized urban and cultural lifestyle” has asked for localities to mobilize owners of the local lodging facilities to exempt or reduce rental fees for lodgers during the upcoming Tet festival. This is the continuation of the tradition from the recent Covid-19 epidemic season when many proprietors have waived or reduced rental charges. And now, owners of the lodging facilities in Thu Dau Mot city continue carrying out this beautiful gesture. Through initial reports from the wards, in addition to exempting and reducing rental charges, many proprietors will also give Tet gifts for lodgers.

"Under the criterion of "Citizen with 5 exemplary performances", each citizen of Thu land has responded to this content by many different ways. Living compassionately and lovingly has now become a habit, formed in the thinking of the people of Thu land. As for proprietors, they have shown attention and shared difficulties with lodgers by exempting or reducing rental charges", said Mrs. Yen.

"The tradition of "mutual support and mutual love" of people in Thu land has been around for a long time. After implementing the Project on "Building a civilized urban and cultural lifestyle", especially from 2020 when the project was raised, the criteria of "Citizens with 5 exemplary performances” has the content that the people of Thu land live compassionately, behave civilly and live responsibly towards the community.
