In response to the peak month "For the poor", on October 20, provincial Red Cross Association held a "zero dong” market-day to support necessities for the local disadvantaged people.
Provincial leaders present gratitude boards to organizations, individuals, units and businesses that have supported resources for provincial Red Cross Society’s humanitarian activities
The event was attended by Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee together with leaders of departments, agencies, organizations in the province.
This "zero dong” market-day distributed free market vouchers worth VND700,000 each to 300 people with disabilities, freelancers and people with difficult circumstances in Thu Dau Mot city, Thuan An city and Tan Uyen town. The total value of the market-day was nearly VND 210 million, funded by agencies, localities, departments, mass organizations, businesses and donors. At the market-day, provincial Red Cross Society received resources from organizations, individuals, units and businesses, joining hands in carrying out humanitarian activities, totaling nearly VND 600 million.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Thao expressed his deep gratitude to organizations, individuals, units and businesses for their contributions, sharing efforts with the province in taking care of people in need. He highly appreciated humanitarian activities done by provincial Red Cross Societies at all levels over the past time, including "zero dong” market-days. Through these activities, the spirit of "mutual love and affection" in the community has continued being promoted and spread more and more widely.
