As of late 2012, Binh Duong has more than 2,800 households free from poverty. Binh Duong basically escaped poverty under the province’s poverty line in the 2011 and 2015 period. This is seen as a breakthrough to give the signal for a happy and well-off New Year.
Thanks to the help and attention of
the local authorities at all levels, the family of Nguyen Van Thanh in Ben Cat
district’s Chanh Phu Hoa commune escaped poverty in 2012. Thanh said that his
family faced difficulties. In 2009, his family got a loan from the local Bank
for Social Policies for animal husbandry and wine brewery. Thanks to this help
plus efforts by family members, his family rose up out of poverty. He also
thanked the local authorities at all levels for their timely support, helping his
family rise up out of poverty.

2012 was the second year Binh Duong has implemented the national target program on poverty reduction under the new poverty line between 2011 and 2015. Poor households in Binh Duong have enjoyed favorable conditions to get access to basic social services via policies and programs in terms of health, education, housing, infrastructure, helping improve their lives.
The whole province last year spent VND167.47bln (up VND47bln compared to that of 2011) to execute preferential policies and offer help to people with difficulties. Over the past time, the national target program on poverty reduction in Binh Duong received a strong response from political and social organizations such as Farmers’ Association, Women’s Union, Youth Union…The program also acknowledged economic organizations and donors’ great contributions in building unity houses, awarding scholarships to poor households. The houses of compassion helped thousands of households overcome difficulties to stabilize their lives.
Thanks to practical policies, as of late 2012, Binh Duong basically escaped poverty under the province’s poverty line in the 2011 and 2015 period. This is also seen as a breakthrough for Binh Duong to continue well realizing the local poverty reduction program in the following years.
Pham Van Canh, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) cum Deputy Head of provincial Mobilization Board of the Day for the Poor said that provincial FFCs at all levels actively contributed to the province’s poverty reduction program between 2011 and 2012. Particularly, along with authorities at all levels, they took measures to mobilize VND16bln to the local Fund for the Poor. Noticeably, they gave housing support to poor households and built 240 houses. They also spent more than VND1.2bln on supporting poor houses in economic development, improving their lives; subsidized the offspring of poor households to further pursue their learning with a total expense of more than VND850mln…
