The 2016 Tet (Lunar New Year) festival is only more than 20 days away, but spring atmosphere overwhelms everywhere. With disadvantaged children, this year’s spring seems to come early to them when receiving gifts from delegations of provincial leaders and mass organizations. On Jan.14, provincial Children Support Fund Council and Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs co-held the 2016 “Spring with needy children” program. Attending the event were Tran Van Nam, Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Pham Van Canh, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Council; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee cum Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; Huynh Van Nhi, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee.
Animated to welcome spring
Around 1,000 children with extremely difficult circumstances were present at the event. This was a chance for them to play and exchange on the occasion of the 2016 Tet festival.

They looked very joyfully when enjoying items performed by Binh Duong Television-Radio Station’s art troupe and having a talk with singer Dong Quan and Sac Mau dancing group from HCM city.
Nguyen Thi Le Trinh, Director of provincial Children Support Fund said that the fund has received VND3bln from donors this Tet. From many support resources, the program gave gifts worth VND600,000 each for 1,220 children; provided 10 children with long-term support valued VND120mln; awarded 40 scholarships and 25 bicycles worth VND63mln to others. The total value of gifts in the program was estimated at VND1.577bln.
Spring comes early to needy children
Over the past two weeks, leaders of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs and Children Support Fund kicked off a spring journey to children in some remote communes, at social support centers in the province.
The delegation, on Jan.5, organized a spring celebrating program for disadvantaged children in Bau Bang and Dau Tieng districts. Coming to the program, these children had a chance to take part in games and enjoy art performance items. 300 pupils with difficult circumstances were also presented gifts worth VND500,000 each.
Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee said that the annual “Spring with needy children” program has always received the attention of the local sectors, authorities at all levels and the whole society. So far, the program has funded heart surgery for 227 poor child patients; offered over 5,000 scholarships, nearly 800 bicycles, 70 sets of computers, 43,000 gifts to disadvantaged children on Tet and great holidays with total expense of more than VND55bln.
It is hoped that social charity organizations will further give strength to poor children, helping them surmount difficulties and make their dreams come true.
