Spring is coming. Skipping all worries of life, nearly 400 children in difficult circumstance in the province had a playful, lively Tet festival a participating in the Festival of children overcoming difficulties to learn well that was newly organized by Binh Duong province Youth Union.
Examples of overcoming difficulties
Nguyen Huynh Mai Thy, an energetic student of class 7A1, Tan Thoi secondary school (Thuan An town), said: “My family has no our own home, must stay in a lodging house. Since my mother get the meningitis disease, my father has had to quit his job to stay at home and take care of her. Life was difficult to us, then we moved to my aunt’s house. Our family has two sisters going to school, thus our family fell into difficult circumstance, because of costs of living, medical bills of my mother, and school fees of us…”
At the festival, 2 Red Scarf Houses were given to 2 children in difficult circumstances at Bau Bang and North Tan Uyen district
However, Thy was not discouraged and has been strong to encourage his father to overcome difficulties. Thy always tries her best to learn well, has been an excellent student in many years, obedient to parents, teachers, helpful to friends, a good example for all her friends”.
Pupil Nguyen Tan Phat of class 4A2, Thanh Tan primary school (Dau Tieng district) lost his mother when he was 1 year old, his father works in a distant place, he lives with his grandmother. His grandma is old and usually sick. Life if hard to them, but Phat still goes to school to fulfill his dream to cure his grandma in the future…”
To wing dreams
Mai Thy, Tan Phat were 2 out of 400 energetic children overcoming difficulties in their life. They were selected to participate in the 2nd Festival of children overcoming difficulties to learn well 2016 hosted by provincial Youth Union and sponsors.
Taking part in the festival, they enjoyed a fun day with many exciting activities, such as: making apricot blossom, folks dance, games, discussion, puppet theater. These small audiences also listened to moving stories of family love, thereby teaching them to study well, love life, family, teachers, and friends.
They also received gifts worth 1 million VND each from sponsors. That was Dr Thanh - Lighting dreams of Binh Duong children in the 2016-2020" scholarship sponsored by provincial Youth Union and Tan Hiep Phat Group. Total scholarship value was 500 million VND that will be given within 5 years.
Also at the ceremony, 100 children in difficult circumstances received scholarships. This year's festival also comprised the signing ceremony of Red Scarf Houses program between provincial Young Pioneer Council and Kim Oanh Real Estate Construction Company. Accordingly, Kim Oanh Company will donate 10 Red Scarf Houses to children with a total value of 500 million VND in the 2016-2020.
Nguyen Pham Duy Trang, Secretary of provincial Youth Union, said: “The Festival of children overcoming difficulties to learn well is an opportunity to praise children in difficult circumstances but always striving to learn well; create a healthy playground for children to fortify solidarity, train children’s communication skills for group and social activities. We hope that the sharing of donors, benefactors will give children a warm spring”.
