Starting construction of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien’s memorial house

Morning Apr 2, Tien Giang province Department of Education and Training held the groundbreaking ceremony of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien’s memorial house at Ba Beo hamlet, My Phuoc Tay commune, Cai Lay town, Tieng Giang province.

At the ceremony, participants and family members reviewed revolutionary activities of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien, who was born in 1945 in Ba Beo hamlet, My Phuoc Tay commune, Cai Lay town, Tieng Giang province, joined the revolutionary army on Feb 8th 1962, died on Oct 10th 1966, received third-ranked Liberation Soldier medal and was awarded second-ranked Liberation Soldier medal posthumously. When her family received martyr Le Thi Thien death notice, nobody knew where her remains were. Until Binh Duong Newspaper received the diary named “Ho Chi Minh generation", the authorities traced the author's identity and found that Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien wrote this diary while living and fighting at the Southeastern battlefield. “Ho Chi Minh generation" diary of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien was published in 2012.

Since then, many young people, students, people inside and outside Tien Giang province have come to the home town of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien to commemorate a patriotic young woman that was willing to sacrifice for the national liberation, reunification. Therefore, the education and training sector of Tien Giang province raised a fund for Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien’s memorial house on her family’s ground.

Memorial house of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien has an area of ​​70m2, including the main building block and auxiliary buildings with a total construction cost of about VND900 million. The house will a place for preserving objects, introduction of Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien’s life, career, and revolutionary spirit. This is also a work to express the gratitude, admiration of Tien Giang teachers and students for Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien.

On this occasion, Tien Giang province Department of Education and Training in collaboration with Binh Duong Newspaper introduced a scholarship fund named Teacher - Martyr Le Thi Thien. At the ceremony, the organizers awarded 40 scholarships worth VND1 million each to poor studious students in My Phuoc Tay and other communes.
