Stepping up the tradition

Commemorating the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam People's Army (December 22, 1944 to December 22, 2024), various levels of Youth Unions and Associations in the province have organized numerous programs and activities to honor the previous generations and educate the youth about traditional values.

The youth of Hoa Phu ward (Thu Dau Mot city) collaborated with the local Veterans Association to visit and present gifts to policy families and contributors to the revolution in the area.

Educating on tradition

From the beginning of December, many traditional educational activities have taken place in schools across the province, organized by local Youth Unions. In Tan Dinh commune (Bac Tan Uyen district), the Communal Youth Union recently coordinated with the Communal Veterans Association to organize an exchange and talk about traditions with students of Tan Dinh Elementary and Secondary Schools. During the program, students learned about the glorious historical traditions of the Vietnam People's Army; educating about patriotism and the moral principle of "when drinking water, think of its source."

Mr. Huynh Ho Hy, Secretary of Tan Dinh Communal Youth Union, shared that through this activity, students gained more understanding about military life and stories about the lives of the veterans, embodying the qualities of "Uncle Ho's Soldiers." This will ignite the pride and determination in the younger generation to continue the traditions of their forefathers in building and protecting the nation.

Additionally, various Youth Union levels also organized "Journeys to red addresses," visiting resistance bases, historical revolutionary sites, and interacting with veterans to allow the youth to experience meaningful activities and listen to the heroic, challenging, and sacrificial stories of the previous generations in historical battles. These activities not only connect generations but also foster patriotism, tradition, bravery, and responsibility towards the country. They inspire the youth to overcome difficulties and aim high; simultaneously creating an educational environment with practical relevance and guiding the youth in setting life goals and aspirations.

Furthermore, Youth Unions and Associations at all levels in the province also organized visits to museums, martyrs' cemeteries, offering incense to remember the heroes, organizing photo contests "Youth following the nation's keepers," implementing projects "Biographies of national heroes," organizing programs "A day as a soldier," storytelling competitions about the heroic martyrs, and the heroic traditions of the homeland... These are opportunities for today's youth to revisit the glorious, heroic history and great victories of the army and people, engraving the moral "Repaying the debt of gratitude."

"The work of Youth Unions and Associations always focuses on traditional educational activities to awaken in the youth the love for their homeland and country, the spirit of striving in study and work, the aspiration to contribute, and highlighting the responsibility of Youth Union officials and members. From this, educating the revolutionary morals in the young generation, actively participating in protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, combating incorrect and hostile views; continuously refining the consciousness of protecting national sovereignty and preserving the cultural identity of the nation."

(Mrs. Tran Thi Diem Trinh, Secretary of the Provincial Youth Union)

The gratitude

The youth of Binh Duong always remember the great contributions of the previous generations who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the nation. Those who came before have written glorious pages of history for today's generation to live in peace, with a warm and happy life. Gratitude is expressed not only in words but also through specific actions. This is the spirit of gratitude and continuation of the tradition "when drinking water, think of its source." Last week, the Youth Union of Hoa Phu ward (Thu Dau Mot city) coordinated with the local Veterans Association to visit and present gifts to 6 policy families and contributors to the revolution in the ward. At these families, the delegation kindly inquired about health, living conditions, and expressed deep gratitude for their significant contributions to the national liberation struggle.

Alongside visiting policy families and contributors to the revolution, the local Youth Union also coordinated with various youth groups and school teams to visit and present gifts to veterans, former youth volunteers, families of wounded and fallen soldiers, mothers of Vietnamese heroes, and participated in cleaning commemorative plaques and historical sites... The activities of the Youth Union represent affection, responsibility, and gratitude towards the contributors; simultaneously enhancing the consciousness of youth members about deep gratitude towards the heroic martyrs and inspiring the spirit of striving in labor, study, and participation in building and developing the homeland.
