In the face of the complicated development of Covid-19 pandemic in Ho Chi Minh city, provincial Steering Committee has strengthened supervision over measures against the pandemic at industrial parks and lodging facilities across the province.

As one of the province’s localities with a large number of immigrant workers, Di An city has set up community-based anti- Covid-19 groups after detecting F1 cases in Tan Binh, Tan Dong Hiep wards in early 2021. This model has promoted its effectiveness in quickly controlling subjects returning from pandemic-hit localities in order to promptly take measures for zoning and isolating in accordance with regulations.

Pham Van Bay, Vice-Chairman of Di An city’s People's Committee, Deputy Head of the city’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said that the city has so far established 965 community-based anti-Covid-19 groups, with 2,895 members, in which membership structure still gives priority to the owners of the lodging facilities. Joining in the groups, owners of the local lodging facilities have become a "core" force, helping the local steering committee and functional forces to promptly grasp the situation of people entering and leaving the locality while being a frontline force in propaganding the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health among workers.
“Up to now, the model of community-based anti-Covid-19 group has upheld its effectiveness in pandemic prevention and control. Forces from the model have joined hands with the local steering committee and functional agencies to manage and detect suspected cases coming and returning from pandemic-hit areas, thereby helping well control over the pandemic while actively supporting inspection and supervison over measures against the pandemic, effectively realizing propganda on pandemic prevention and control among workers,” said Mr. Bay.
Di An city is now home to around 483,000 people, including about 200,000 workers, and is also a locality bordering Bien Hoa city in Dong Nai province and Thu Duc city in Ho Chi Minh city. The city also has a total of 7,168 lodging facilities. Currently, the city attaches special importance to inspection and supervision over Covid-19 prevention and control.
Community-based anti-Covid-19 groups promoted
Along with Di An city, Thuan An city is also considered as one of the province’s "key areas" in Covid-19 prevention and control when this locality has many gateways adjacent to Ho Chi Minh city. The city is also home to hundreds of thousands of workers. Therefore, supervision over Covid-19 prevention and control has also been drastically implemented by the city, especially after detecting positive cases of Covid-19 at the eHome 4 residential area in Vinh Phu ward in February this year.
Nguyen Thanh Tam, Chairman of Thuan An city’s People's Committee, Head of the city’s Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control said that the city now has a total of 7,318 lodging facilities with about 326,000 workers taking jobs at industrial parks and compounds. So far, the city has established more than 800 community-based anti-Covid-19 groups with more than 2,500 members, comprising of the owners of the local lodging facilities.
“Up to now, the model of community-based anti-Covid-19 groups has upheld its effectiveness in making inspection and supervision over workers’movement; carrying out medical declaration guidance and health monitoring for those who are taking home isolation measures; actively advising steering committees on promptly handling situations arising from the pandemic", said Mr. Tam.
Also according to Mr. Tam, businesses at city-based industrial parks and compounds are aware of Covid-19 prevention and control. Provincial Industrial Parks’Management Board, businesses have upheld the effectiveness of propaganda against the pandemic through provincial Labor Unions at all levels, Businesses have been very active in mobilizing workers to strictly follow the "5K" message of the Ministry of Health...
The province has strengthened inspection and monitoring measures over measures against the pandemic at industrial parks and lodging facilities, which is timely and neccesary amid the complicated development of the pandemic. The Steering Committees for Covid-19 prevention and control in localities bordering Ho Chi Minh City such as Di An City, Thuan An City are highly focusing on Covid-19 prevention and control. The forces of the local anit-Covid-19 prevention teams continue being frontline in inspection and supervision of Covid-19 prevention and control measures at the request of the health sector, the province as well as the directives of the Prime Minister.
