Strides of sports socialization in Binh Duong

Nguyen Van Thien, director of Binh Duong Environment & Water Supply Company reminded “the company officially received cycling team from the provincial Sports Department in 2005. At that time, our company was still a weak unit but we still accept to maintain the team”.

After that the company invested deeply in the team according to a professionalization trend. After getting cooperation of Banh Chanh Quyen – a good coach of Vietnamese cycling team, the company and local sports sector have lured more cycling talents nationwide. Of these, Vo Thi Phuong Phi in HCMC, Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen in Ha Noi and Nguyen Thuy Dung in Ha Noi are considered as leading birds helping young talents fly away. From 2006 to 2009, Binh Duong cycling team achieved impressive successes, winning a series of gold medals at national cycling tournaments.

To raise ability of athletes, the company has sent their cyclists to international championships in Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand. Most of the athletes have won high achievements at the int’l tournaments. Thanks to the investment, Binh Duong cycling team won one gold medal and one bronze one at SEA Games 2007.

Besides, at the national Sports Festival held at Hoa Binh province in the past Sept. the local cycling team reaped 2 gold medals, 2 silver ones and 4 bronze ones and became one of three strongest cycling centers in Vietnam.

Thien added that after affirming its position in the country, the company is targeting to conquer gold medals at the Southeastern Asia region, contributing to help Vietnamese cycling event fly away.
