Striving to drop traffic accidents by 5%-10% in all 3 criteria in 2017

Early February 8, provincial People’s Committee forwarded a conference to review its activities ensuring traffic safety in 2016 and implement tasks for 2017, which was presided over by Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Head of provincial Traffic Safety Committee. Also attending the conference was Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Deputy Head of provincial Traffic Safety Committee.

The local functional forces last year discovered 84,671 wrong cases on traffic safety and order, handled 70,636 cases with a total fine of more than VND87billion; issued 6,132 penalties worth more than VND16billion…There were also 2,035 traffic accidents reported in the province, killing 326 people, injuring 2,195 others and damaging 3,242 vehicles. Compared to 2015, the number of traffic accidents decreased by 7.71%, the deaths increased by 0.62%, and the number of injured people dropped by 11.46%.

Speaking at the conference, Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Head of provincial Traffic Safety Committee said that the province has still faced some issues, greatly affecting a task of ensuring traffic safety and order. Hence, he asked for relevant agencies to seriously assess and learn experience from shortcomings in order to devise and implement 2017’s plan on traffic safety-order in line with each sector and locality; boost propaganda among teenagers, youths and workers…, aiming to well realize a task of assuring traffic order-traffic and strive to reduce traffic accidents by 5%-10% in all three criteria (the number of cases, the death toll and the number of injured people).

Also at the conference, 40 certificates of merit of provincial People’s Committee and 99 certificates of merit of provincial Traffic Safety Committee were awarded to outstanding collectives and individuals in the local task of ensuring traffic order and traffic.
