Many Tet services lure students
Bui Thanh Phong from the Northern province of Thanh Hoa who is the third-year student of Binh Duong University, said this is the second time I enjoy Tet away from home. Owing to difficult circumstance, after school time, I have to do part-time jobs to earn more money for tuition payment and living expense. With a scientific arrangement, I think part-time jobs will not influence on study work.
Similarly, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang, from the province of Dac Lac, the second-year student of Thu Dau Mot University who works as a waitress at a coffee shop, said “My hometown is in Dac Lac province but this year I can not afford to come back home for Tet. To have a significant Tet holiday, I will join in social activities of paying gift visits to orphans and lonely old people. In addition, I will seek more jobs to increase income.
There are many seasonal works with high salary levels on Tet holiday. They include sale, house cleaning, marketing and among others. Most of the alien students are from poor families. To help them, the provincial Youth Union and youth sub-unions at universities and colleges have mapped out concrete plans to bring useful and significant activities for them on Tet holiday.
Supportive programs for alien students
According to Huynh Ngoc Phu, vice secretary of Binh Duong University said that the university youth union has launch a list to help alien poor students who stay for Tet. The union will pay gift visits to them and hold a music show to bring a warm Tet holiday for them. This is an annual activity of Binh Duong University.
Meanwhile, the provincial Youth Union will hold activity chains such as “I love Binh Duong” program with activities of legal consultancy, “Flower arrangement on Tet holiday” contest or get-togethers and Tet gift visits for poor young workers.
In addition, the students’ societies across local universities, colleges and vocational schools will hold activities for alien students on Tet holiday.
Due to many different reasons, many people must enjoy Tet away from home. Many young people who decide to work seasonal jobs on Tet show their independence, confidence and responsibility.
