Implementing the Government’s instruction on the payment of electricity fees for poor families, the provincial authorities and functional agencies have excelled the regulation. One of the excellent localities in the work is Phu Hoa ward in Thu Dau Mot town.

To assist poor households and low incomers, Phu Hoa ward has boosted promulgation and announcement on registering power purchase at the level of under 50kWh/month for poor households.
Le Thi Thu Huong, a staff of the ward poverty reduction program, said on March 1, 2011, power price increased sharply. The Labour, War-Invalids and Social Affairs sector at all levels have rapidly launched procedures and subsidized the support fees for poor families. 100% of local poor households have assisted with their electricity fee for 50 kWh per month, with an amount of VND 30,000 per month.
Ho Thi Chen’s family in quarter 4 enjoys the support of VND120,000 for 4 months. She said “the support helps my family minimize expenses for life”. Tran Thi Do, 57, in quarter 9, said “Enjoying the support, my family minimizes difficulties in life”.
Phu Hoa ward now has 166 poor households. Accordingly, the ward assists over VND19mil from electricity fee for the local families. Nguyen Van An, vice chairman of the ward People’s Committee, said the local administration arrives at local poor families to instruct them registration of the support. The policy not only helps the poor minimize expenses but encourage them to escape poverty.
