Bring Tet to poor workers

The 2014 traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) festival is approaching, the local authorities at all levels and enterprises are urgently preparing Tet bonus plans and activities to take care of laborers during Tet. So far, provincial Trade Unions at all levels have finished a list of workers at enterprises that were dissolved, temporarily stopped operation and were unable to give Tet bonuses for timely support.

Provincial Labor Union’s Standing Committee has also proposed provincial People’s Committee to support 6,700 Tet gifts worth VND500,000 each for workers to further help them overcome difficulties and have a long-term attachment with province-based enterprises, contributing to well realizing the local political and socio-economic tasks in the coming time. Of these, 3,500 Tet gifts will be for needy workers at province-based industrial parks (Ips) and 3,200 Tet gifts for those working for companies outside province-based Ips.

In addition, provincial Labor Union and higher-level trade unions have extracted their State budget to buy additional 500 Tet gifts for those working at companies that face difficulties and failed to pay salaries for workers in 2013. Leaders of provincial Labor Union will also organize delegations to visit and present Tet gifts to workers who cannot return home for Tet.

Also on this occasion, provincial Labor Union will team up with provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs to organize art performances for workers who stay in Binh Duong to welcome Tet. Especially, provincial Labor Union has instructed trade unions at all levels to hold activities to take care of members’spritual and material lives during Tet. Paying Tet gift visits to poor laborers away from home is annually implemented by the local authorities and trade unions at all levels. This deed expresses the attention of the local authorities at all levels to laborers while creating a strong attachment between them and enterprises.

On this occasion, higher-level trade unions will also extract their working budget to offer additional 300 tickets worth VND300mln for workers working in the province to provide them with a chance to celebrate Tet at their hometowns.

This is the 4th consecutive year provincial Labor Union has launched and provided workers with trips back home for Tet, absorbing the attention and respond of enterprises. According to statistics, nearly 29,000 laborers will have a chance to go home to enjoy Tet with their families via trips co-organized by directorates and trade union locals of companies in the province. Binh Duong Garment Co.Ltd. and Thien Nam Fibre Joint Stock Co, are typical examples for this activity. It is hoped that this activity will be strongly responded by province-based enterprises in the next years so that the majority of laborers can return home for Tet.
