Taking good care for poor households and policy beneficiary families

The local authorities and mass organizations at all levels have always taken care of the spiritual and material lives of poor households and revolutionary contributors. In particular, on the occasion of the Tet (lunar New Year) festival or great holidays, the province has spent hundreds of billions of dong on caring for these targeted people. The task of taking care of them on the Tet festival 2022 has been well prepared by the local authorities at all levels.

Nearly VND228 billion spent on giving Tet care to targeted people

Up to now, the whole province has had a total of 3,114 poor households or 0.95% of total and 3,031 near-poor households or 0.93% of total, and there have been no poor households under the central poverty line and no households falling back into poverty. There are now over 64,000 revolutionary contributors enjoying preferential policies. These are the two groups of subjects with special attention from the province. Based on the proposal of departments and sectors, the province’s total estimated expenditure for the targeted groups this year's Tet is VND 227,895 billion, up 6% compared to 2021.

Accordingly, depending on each target group, there is the corresponding spending of Tet gifts. Specifically, for heroic Vietnamese mothers and their husbands, the spending level is VND 4 million per person, including VND 3.5 million in cash and a gift worth VND 500,000. The spending levels for those with the title of Hero of the People’s Armed Forces and the families of martyrs are VND3million and VND2.5million per person, respectively. The spending level of VND 2.5 million per person is for other policy beneficiaries...Poor households and children with difficult circumstances will also get the subsidiary levels of VND1.5million and VND1million per person, respectively. For those enjoying monthly allowances, they will get VND 700,000 per person.

In addition, the province will also support around 24,000 workers who can’t afford to return to their hometown for Tet with the subsidy level of VND500,000 per person; support workers having extremely difficult circumstances with the subsidy level of VND500,000 per person. Other targeted groups, including workers directly cleaning up streets and collecting waste during Tet holidays; cadres of quarters, hamlets, armed forces under the management of the province, poor inpatients at public hospitals; secretaries of sub-unions for young workers, heads of youth workers' clubs…will also get  subsidies for Tet.

Nguyen Ngoc Hang, Deputy Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs said: “Although 2021 was the year with many difficulties, due to Covid-19 pandemic, the local authorities at all levels paid more attention to taking good care of policy beneficiary families as well as poor households. They rechecked and supported capital for organizations and individuals to recover production-business activities after the pandemic; built “great unity” houses and donated health insurance cards to the poor. On the occasion of the War Invalids and Martyrs ‘Day this year, the province well realized the task of taking care of policy beneficiary families amid the complicated developments of the pandemic. In particular, on the Tet holiday, this task is more thoughtfully prepared, so that all households in the province will enjoy Tet."

Bringing the warmth of spring to everyone

As Tet approaches, the atmosphere at the homes of Vietnamese heroic mothers and revolutionary contributors gets warm, bustling with laughter. Nguyen Van Ha, living in North Tan Uyen district’s Tan Binh town, a resistance activist infected with toxic chemicals confided: "Every holiday and Tet, we get the most fun when being visited by leaders at all levels and local authorities.  It is not only the sentiment, spiritual encouragement, but also shows the gratitude of the youth. The task of taking care of the children of families with contributions to the national revolution is also well-done by authorities at all levels."

In addition to taking care of more than 20 targeted groups on Tet, the local authorities and mass organizations at all levels have mobilized organizations and individuals to take care of disadvantaged households, policy beneficiary families, and children with extremely difficult circumstances during the Tet holiday. Accordingly, thousands of gifts are delivered to households so that the joy is multiplied every day near Tet. Vo Thi Mai, a difficult household in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu Tho ward shared: "In 2021, our family will welcome a meaningful and happier Tet than the previous years because we have a new cozy house that I've wanted for a long time. This house has just been built by the local government in conjunction with a local enterprise. For households with difficult economic conditions like us, it is a great happiness when we receive a lot of gifts from all-level authorities during the Tet holiday, having enough money to welcome a warm Tet like many other households”.

In recent years, joining hands to take care of policy beneficiary families and poor households in Binh Duong has also been widely deployed among mass organizations and policy beneficiary families with financial conditions. In Tan Uyen town, Di An city, Thu Dau Mot city..., Many people who are the offspring of policy beneficiary families with financial conditions have significantly contributed to helping the local poor households, especially on Tet and great holidays…

The province's total expenditure for the Tet (Lunar New Year of the Tiger) festival 2022 is more than VND 227.89 billion, an increase of 6% compared to 2021. The objects and spending levels remain as the 2021 Tet festival. The highest spending level is VND 4 million and the lowest level is VND500,000.
