Taking Tet care of needy people

Along with creating favorable conditions for poor households to get a stable life, the province has regularly visited and offered gifts to them on Tet and great holidays. These gifts have contributed to encouraging them to further surmount difficulties and rise up in life.

From a typical locality

Like the previous years, leaders of Phu Giao district has just visited and Tet gifts to the family of Doan Van Nhuong, one of poor and lonely households in An Thai commune. In 2018, he was given a house of compassion from the local government. This was also his greatest joy last year.

Also thanks to the attention and help of the local government, Tran Van Minh in Phuoc Sang commune has so far risen up out of poverty and secured a stable life.

It is known that the district still has 133 poor households under the poverty reduction policy and 310 ones under the social support policy. In addition to Tet gifts from the local State budget, the district has mobilized organizations and individuals to offer gifts to poor and near-poor households on the occasion of the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival 2019, bracing up them rise up in life.

Tet to all people

Since 2016, the Bank for Social Policies has disbursed more than VND514.8billion in loan for 15,843 poor and near-poor households. The province has also built and upgraded 441 “great unity”, charity houses for disadvantaged households with a total expense of more than VND30.4billion. From the above action programs, as of July 2018, the number of poor households in the province reduced to 1,850 with the annual decrease rate of around 0.25% of total.

Along with creating favorable conditions for poor households to get a stable life, the province has regularly visited and offered gifts to them on Tet and great holidays. This year, the province’s total expense for visiting and offering Tet gifts to poor households and children with extremely difficult circumstances has amounted to more than VND30.6billion.

Le Minh Quoc Cuong, Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA) said that taking care of the poor, especially on Tet is one of the province’s top targets. As of now, the province has organized many significant Tet activities, including visiting, offering gifts to targeted people, organizing the 12th provincial “Spring with needy children” programs. Apart from central and provincial policies, the province has also organized a lot of sports-cultural activities for people who are being cared and treated at centers under provincial DoLISA, bringing them a warm and joyful Tet atmosphere.
