With concrete actions, Tan Uyen district’s Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) has successfully implemented its program for the poor.
Thanks to the local Fund for the Poor used properly, Tan Uyen district has over time helped many households rise up out of poverty.
The district’s FFC last year built 17 gratitude houses valued at VND1bln and upgraded 9 others of VND164mln while suggesting provincial FFC to give financial support for building and upgrading 16 gratitude houses worth VND659mln.
Upon the
local Fund for the Poor, Tan Uyen district also built 50 unity houses with a
total expense of more than VND1.7bln.

Ly Ngoc Thanh, chairman of the district’s FFC said that the whole district had 919 poor households in early 2011. With many efforts by the local authorities, there were only 464 poor households by the end of the year.
There were also 8,172 turns of poor households getting loans to develop homebased business. The district now provides regular allowances for 3,394 social policy beneficiaries.
Last year, the whole district granted 6,645 health insurance cards for those belonging to poor and near-poor households; provided free medical check-ups and medicine for 2,449 turns of poor people, social policy beneficiaries with a total expense of VND526.5mln…
The district’s FFC has also excelled at mobilizing organizations and individuals to offer help to the poor. Vietcombank’s Binh Duong branch is a typical unit in giving financial support for the locality to build unity houses for the poor.
According to Mr.Thanh, the district now continues promoting the campaign of “All people consolidate to build cultural lifestyle in residential areas” in according to concrete criteria.
He also said that the above results came from active cooperation between the local FFCs and other mass organizations, helping mobilize the strength of the national great unity bloc in order to implement patriotic movements…
