Tan Uyen Volunteers’Club connects love, sharing efforts for community

After nearly 20 years of establishment, the Volunteers’ Club under Tan Uyen city’s Red Cross Society has accompanied the poor and vulnerable people in the society. The specific and practical actions of the club effectively supported the city’s Red Cross Society in humanitarian work over the past time, actively contributing to ensuring the local social welfare.

Connecting volunteer hearts

During the process of implementing tasks, Tan Uyen city’s Red Cross Society has always focused on building a volunteer core force in charity and humanitarian work. One of the volunteer models with positive effects in recent years directly managed by the city’s Red Cross Society is the Volunteers’ Club.

Members of Tan Uyen city’s Volunteers’ Club give gifts for needy students

Nguyen Thi Phuong, Chairwoman of Tan Uyen city’s Red Cross Society said the club's goal is to bring together organizations, individuals and donors in and out of the city and join hands with the city’s Red Cross Society to mobilize resources to help disadvantaged people in the community, contributing to well implementing the local social welfare policies. The club operates on a voluntary basis, contributing funds in accordance with its ability to participate in activities launched by the local Red Cross Society.

In order to connect volunteers to share love in the community, Tan Uyen city’s Volunteers’ Club was officially born in 2005 with 8 members. Up to now, the club has had 38 members participating in activities. With different jobs, all members of the club have the same mindset of doing meaningful activities to help those with fortunate circumstances.

Perhaps, the desire to help life is the catalyst that connects them together in a charity organization, to bring love together to share with people in need. The good deeds done by them come from the heart and no one wants to talk about their contribution. They silently come to those in need and feel happy because they have done good deeds to help life.

Many meaningful activities

Over the past time, humanitarian work in Tan Uyen city received the attention and joint participation of many units and individuals, including the very active contributions of the Volunteers’Club. Although there are still many difficulties, members of the club have been silent to do good deeds to share with those in need. Depending on their abilities, they have contributed and supported resources to implement programs and campaigns launched by the city’s Red Cross Society.

Since 2021, the club has joined hands with the city’s Red Cross Society to carry out many meaningful volunteer programs and activities. For example, in the movement "Tet for the poor, Agent Orange victims" (now known as the charity Tet movement) on the occasion of preparing for the annual Tet festival, members of the club have supported, joined hands with the city’s Red Cross Society to offer 5,415 gifts worth more than VND 2.8 billion. The club sponsored 271 scholarships, 59 bicycles and 2,710 notebooks for poor-but-excellent students at all levels with a total value of nearly VND 405 million.

In addition, the club has participated in supporting resources for the "Nutritional meal" model for poor patients and the "Zero dong” market-day program. Over the past 3 years, the club supported 1,575 cases of poor patients, supported 1,000 free vouchers for people and workers to go to the "zero dong market-day" with a total value of over VND600 million. Particularly, during the Humanitarian Month 2023, members of the club also supported the implementation of 3 "zero-dong” market-days organized by the city’s Red Cross Society, supporting 450 free exchange coupons for disadvantaged households, workers who lost their jobs, were reduced working hours… with a total cost of VND 450 million.

Possibly seeing, contributions by members of Tan Uyen city’s Volunteers’Club have not only provided material support, but also given strength and spiritual support to difficult cases, helping them rise up in life. Nguyen Thi Phuong assessed that the practical contributions by the club over in the past time joined hands with the city’s Red Cross Society in well performing the local social welfare and successfully completing the assigned tasks.

The city’s Volunteers’Club’s total value to implement humanitarian social models, helping 8,260 disadvantaged people over the past 3 years was over VND 3.7 billion.
