Further promoting the implementation of the project to improve the quality of the movement "Building a Cultural and Civilized Urban Lifestyle" for the 2021–2025 period, in recent times, departments, sectors and localities across Thu Dau Mot city have launched many meaningful activities and programs. Along with that, the planting and care of trees have also been widely implemented, bringing practical results to daily life, contributing to environmental protection and the building of a "Green - Friendly City".
Practical activities
Promoting the results achieved from the project to improve the quality of the movement of "Building a Cultural and Civilized Urban Lifestyle" associated with the movement of "Urban Greening" and the model of "Zero Waste City" for the 2023–2025 period in Thu Dau Mot city, Thu Dau Mot city’s Women’s Union has recently implemented and organized many meaningful activities. In addition to organizing communication activities, the Women’s Union has also developed models, including "Thu Women Take 4T Actions", "Zero Waste Streets", the volunteer team of "For a Zero Waste City", the team of "Women Propagating Environmental Protection", a series of activities responding to the World Environment Day, recycled fashion contests, booths exchanging waste for green trees, booths displaying piggy banks, booths exhibiting recycled products…, attracting a large number of members and women in the area.

For a green city
Under the programs and projects of the province and the city on "Building a Cultural and Civilized Urban Lifestyle" in Thu Dau Mot city, in the 2020–2024 period, the whole city has established and maintained 146 "Self-Managed Environmental Protection Groups" in 118 quarters, with the participation of more than 10,620 members.
According to the assessment of leaders of Thu Dau Mot city, the implementation of this model at the residential level has made a positive contribution to gradually raising public awareness of environmental protection and ensuring the urban landscape in the area. Along with that, the city has 118 "Civilized - Green - Clean - Beautiful" roads managed effectively by the local Fatherland Front working committees in recent times, contributing to creating a spacious, civilized, green, clean and beautiful urban appearance.
One of the tasks that have made a positive contribution to building a more civilized Thu Dau Mot City in recent times and has received active response from departments, sectors and people in the area is the movement to green urban areas and aim to build a "Green - Friendly City" for the 2024–2030 period and the following years, with the motto of "Each year, each citizen plants at least one tree”. The city sets the goal of increasing green coverage to create a green, clean and beautiful living environment in public areas, residential zones and other urban areas while mobilizing the active participation and response of people from all strata in the area to jointly realize the common goal of turning Thu Dau Mot city into a "Green - Friendly City" and a desirable place to invest, live and work.
As a result, in 2024, the whole city planted 600,773 out of 360,000 trees of all kinds (reaching 166.88% of the target) and cultivated 388,632 out of 370,000 seedlings (reaching 105.03% compared to the plan). In addition, sectors, unions and localities have mobilized socialization resources to implement 34 thematic gardens, with 38,783 trees. According to the plan, in 2025, Thu Dau Mot city is expected to plant additional 500,000 trees of all kinds and cultivate 383,000 seedlings to basically meet the number of trees required to be planted in 2026.
The urban greening movement of Thu Dau Mot city towards building a "Green - Friendly City" for the 2024–2030 period and the following years has been creating a strong and widespread effect across the society. From the local initiative, many individuals, organizations, units and religious institutions have voluntarily contributed seedlings and planted more trees to add greenery to the city. The active participation and enthusiastic response from all-level authorities, sectors and residents across the city have significantly contributed to protecting the ecological environment, improving the quality of life for the people and joining hands to achieve the goal of building Thu Dau Mot city into a green, friendly and livable urban area. |
