TDM City Women’s Union (WU) Executive Committee has set new direction, tasks and solutions to successfully fulfill objectives of the 10th tenure (2016-2021). In particular, issues of organizational development, quality improvement of organizational activities are the top priorities.

TDM City WU held a dialogue between leaders of TDM City Party Committee, Provincial WU and WU cadres in communes, wards in 2013
In the 2011- 2016 tenure, the renewal of contents and operation mode are considered as the key task of TDM City WU to improve the quality of activities and attract women to the union. Namely, the union has built up more practical models in accordance with local actual situation to meet the needs and aspirations of women; focused on building models based on hobbies, professions, specific subjects… to gather majority women. In particular, TDM City WU has kept turning key activities towards the grassroots level, which is capable of and has favorable conditions for movement activities. Ms. Truong Thi Thu Hien, Chairwoman of TDM City WU, said: “We ways create favorable conditions for movement activities of affiliates; directly give professional guidance on movement activities to grassroots affiliates. The union actively advised Party leaders to organize dialogues, meetings with female cadres, members in order to learn about their thoughts and aspirations, then make appropriate directives”.
During 5 years (2011-2016), TDM City WU established 81 new clubs, teams, groups with 2,091 members and has now 343 clubs, groups with 5,451 members. The union encouraged the establishment of 122 lodging house young workers’ associations with 3,821 members.
In addition, staff training to improve qualifications and professional skills for union cadres has been paid much attention. In 5 years, the union organized and coordinated to organize 40 training courses of operating skills, union activities, inspection, office work, fund management, movement deployment, woman aggregation, communication skills… for 11,309 female cadres and members.
Ms. Truong Thi Thu Hien said, in order to organize well union activities, their staff must be professional and propaganda works must be enhanced. Therefore, staff training at all levels has been focused to standardize its cadres. Examination, assessment of affiliates has also been carefully performed. Every year, 100% affiliates reach good, over 70% branches reach excellent, over 70% groups reach excellent…
However, according to the assessment, staff capability still has some limitations in qualifications, and competence. Some launched models have low quality; membership development is still weak. Therefore, in the 2016-2021 tenure, building strong union is still the key task. Particularly, the union will often renew contents, improve activities’ quality at grassroots level, diversify aggregating methods based on hobbies, professions… to attract more members. The union is striving to reach 75%, 80% households with 18-or-above-year-old women to take part in the union; implement the project of “Young worker aggregation in Binh Duong Province in 2015- 2020", attract 10% female workers in lodging houses into the union; carry out the project of “Building a key force among workers” in the 2015-2020; regularly organize training to improve knowledge, skills of cadres.
“In order for women's movements and union activities to be effective, membership development is focused. The union encouraged nearly 27,000 women to participate in our organizations. We also put more effort into building a key force to be pioneers in our activities…”, said Ms. Truong Thi Thu Hien.
