During 34 years of teaching, biological teacher Duong Thi De of Dau Tieng high school has cultivated knowledge and personality of many pupil generations. Her pupils are now engineers, doctors contributing their best to build up the country. Looking back, she felt so pride and satisfied with her career choice.
Every year, Dau Tieng high school has the lowest input rate of 10th grade in the province. But after 3 high school years, many pupils advanced obviously, thanks to efforts of many teachers here including Ms. Duong Thi De. She said, the art of teaching was how to make pupils love teaching; and she has succeeded. Her method was transforming language so that pupils can understandable easily.
Because pupils had weak learning capacity, their ability to acquire knowledge was low. She said, providing knowledge for the pupils was like feeding them, and she preferred eating less but nutritiously. Her lesson is always concise, easy to understand, and complete. While teaching, she usually creates a fun, open atmosphere so that pupils can feel comfortable to study. Pupils loved their teacher, and then loved the subject.
In recent years, biology has been 7-15% higher output rate than the common rate of the province. Although the school is in a remote area, many pupils of the school have admitted to top universities, such as: medicine, agriculture, forestry, pedagogy, natural sciences. Success of pupils came partially from teacher Duong Thi De. In 2014, three of her pupils were admitted to University of Medicine, one pupils to Pham Ngoc Thach Medicine University. She also trains excellent pupils for provincial contest.
After tens years of teaching, she concluded, the mind, the love, and wisdom decide educational quality. She said, if a teacher had talents, the teacher could convince pupils easily, pupils would believe more in teacher.
As a senior, Ms. De has also coached junior teachers. Being President of the school Trade Union, she encouraged female teachers to teach well, good at school works as well as housework. Many young female teachers registered and engaged actively in this emulation movement.
