Teachers who "sow letters" in Truong Sa

Recently, driven by a commitment to their beloved students, teachers from the mainland have volunteered to travel to the Truong Sa Archipelago to provide educational resources for children living in this storm-prone region. The presence of these teachers enriches life for the residents there and demonstrates that the mainland's affection is always focused on the country's seas and islands.

Overcome difficulties to "sow letters"

In recent years, Truong Sa island district (Khanh Hoa) has always maintained two primary and preschool classes on Truong Sa Lon island and Da Tay A island. School facilities here have been fully invested.

Teacher Le Xuan Hanh, who is responsible for the primary school in Truong Sa town, has volunteered to teach in the Truong Sa archipelago for the past two years. Teaching on the island is always conducted with discipline and closely follows the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education and Training. Due to the small number of students in each grade, classes are organized as combined classes for grades 1 to 4. Despite having multiple grades in one class, the school ensures that lesson plans and teaching programs adhere to regulations. Although the learning conditions may not be as favorable as those on the mainland, the children are well-behaved and consistently try their best in their studies. "That is the joy and happiness for us to try together to overcome difficulties and complete the assigned tasks well," Mr. Hanh shared.

Reporters of Binh Duong Newspaper present gifts and scholarships from Binh Duong Provincial Party Committee to encourage the teaching and learning spirit of teachers and students in Truong Sa archipelago.

With the same passion and love for the island students, Mr. Cao Van Truyen, a preschool teacher at Truong Sa Town Primary School, shared that he has volunteered to teach on Truong Sa Lon Island for 2 years. Children on the island have different ages and levels in one class, so class time must have appropriate teaching methods for children to learn and understand the lesson. Although teaching conditions in Truong Sa are not as good as on the mainland, with the attention of leaders at all levels, local authorities have helped students have the best learning conditions, along with policies to take good care of teachers in border and island areas.

Mr. Ung Van Tuan, the only teacher at Da Tay A Primary School, expressed that teaching on a remote island in the Truong Sa archipelago is both an honor and a source of pride for him. He feels he can "sow letters" and impart knowledge to the children living there. “I am not married yet, and when I learned about the opportunity to teach on Da Tay A island, I volunteered immediately. Although there are certain challenges in teaching and learning conditions here, the local Party Committee, government, and the officers and naval soldiers stationed on the island have made significant efforts to improve the situation. As a result, the quality of the children's education has improved over time. Even though we are far from our families and the mainland, we strive to teach our beloved children with dedication," Mr. Tuan shared.

Teacher Cao Van Truyen volunteered to go to the island to "convey knowledge" for the future generations of Truong Sa archipelago.

For the future generation of Truong Sa

We visited schools in the Truong Sa archipelago, where we were treated as honored guests by the officers, soldiers, residents, and students. The joy and innocence of the children living and studying in these border and island areas serve as a great source of encouragement for the soldiers and community. It is heartening to see that daily life on the island is similar to that on the mainland.

During our visit, Truong Nguyen Trieu Vy, a 4th-grade student on Truong Sa Lon Island, expressed her happiness about attending school every day. She enjoys studying with her teacher and friends who live nearby. Additionally, Ms. Le Thi Minh Dieu, a resident of Truong Sa town, shared that the lives of people on the island have become stable. Although the learning conditions may not be as good as those on the mainland, the dedication and enthusiasm of the teachers help the children excel in their studies. As a result, all the families on the island feel secure and content.

Classrooms and playgrounds at Truong Sa Town Primary School are carefully invested in.

Residents of Truong Sa archipelago hope that, with the thoughtful attention from the Party, the State, and people across the country, Truong Sa will become a shining jewel and a strong outpost of Khanh Hoa province. This will contribute to ensuring national defense and security, while firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of our country’s seas and islands.

Lieutenant Colonel Can Ngoc Son, Commander and Chairman of People's Committee of Truong Sa Town, stated that after completing the 4th-grade program in the Truong Sa archipelago, all children are arranged to continue their education on the mainland in 5th grade. Although the teaching and learning conditions in Truong Sa are more challenging than those on the mainland, the dedication of both teachers and students has resulted in good educational outcomes that align closely with the curriculum set by the Ministry of Education and Training. The Party Committee, government, military, and residents of Truong Sa Town have invested significant affection, as well as material and spiritual resources, to ensure that children have the best possible learning environment, all in support of the future generation of Truong Sa.
