This year, most of local garment companies expect to give Tet bonus at a fair level to laborers. Nguyen Hong Anh, personnel director of Binh Duong Garment One-Member Co., said this year’s Tet bonus in the company will equal to last year’s with over VND2.2mil per person. Besides, the company supports transport fares for workers to help them reunite their relatives on Tet.
Similarly, Nguyen Van Phuong of Dai Thien Loc JSC in Song Than IP, said the company’s laborers would enjoy a Tet bonus level of about VND3mil per person. The company is home to 386 staff, over 100 of whom work and live away from home. Aside the Tet bonus, the company will take laborers home on Tet free of charge.

While steel and garment companies give a fair Tet bonus for their laborers, garment companies offer a low bonus in this year, due to hardship. Truong Thi Thuy Lien, director of Lien Phat Ltd in Di An district, said her company would try its best to give Tet bonus for laborers at about VND900,000-1.2mil per person.
To care for laborers on Tet, the provincial People’s Committee also steered all level agencies and sectors to pay much attention to their workers on Tet 2010. Accordingly, businesses must offer favorable conditions for workers to help the reunite their relatives on Tet. In addition, functional agencies at all levels should actively map out plans to solve allowances and policies relating to Tet bonus, salary and leave for laborers. As for immigrant workers who can not afford to reunite their relatives on Tet, businesses must hold year-end meetings to encourage their spirit...
According to a survey from 63 provinces and cities, this year’s Tet bonus reaches VND1.85mil per person on average, VND300,000 higher than last year. The State-run companies rank first in the average Tet bonus level of VND2.2mil per person, FDI enterprises at VND1.9mil per person, and private ones at VND1.4mil per person.
The highest Tet bonus of State-run companies is VND99.7 million and the lowest is VND100,000. Meanwhile, FDI enterprises pay the highest Tet bonus at VND389mil and lowest at VND50,000.
