Do Van Ve, chairman of the provincial business association, said that with a tradition of sharing, the association has always actively participated in social welfare programmes. Local businesses give tens of thousands of gift packages to poor and near-poor households and policy beneficiaries on the occasion of the traditional New Year.

Calling on local enterprises to join hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses following the Prime Minister’s call, Ve said that businesses and entrepreneurs can register to support the programme through the provincial Fatherland Front or directly build houses for people.

The association will regularly update registrations and report to the provincial People's Committee to ensure that support is provided promptly and to the right beneficiaries.

Vice Chairman of the Thai Binh provincial People's Committee Pham Van Nghiem said that based on the poverty standards for the 2022-2025 period, the province has more than 11,900 poor households and over 12,580 near-poor households, of them, more than 2,100 are facing housing difficulties.

Specifically, more than 1,100 households need new houses, and houses of 942 others need to be repaired.

The province needs over 245 billion VND (9.64 million USD ) to offer housing support. It plans to provide 100 million VND to each household that needs a new house and 50 million VND for families to repair houses.

The housing support programme is expected to start in early next year, Nghiem said, adding that the province strives to eliminate all temporary and dilapidated houses for poor and near-poor households by September 2025.

At the launching ceremony, over 20 businesses registered to donate 3.8 billion USD to the housing support programme./.
