Thailand: Cold weather draws visitors to North, Northeast

Several tourist attractions in the North and the Northeast of Thailand have drawn a large number of visitors, as temperatures in both regions continue to drop.

In Mae Hong Son province, local and foreign travellers are flocking to Thung Bua Tong Field at Doi Mae U Kho, a key natural tourist attractions in the area. The 1,000-rai swamp is located in Khun Yuam district. Lotuses here generally bloom from November to December.

Meanwhile, in Nong Khai, visitors can be seen enjoying a sea of fog at Phu Huai Esan, Phu Nong, Phu Lon, and Phu Pha Dak in the province’s Sangkhom district. Each spot attracts no fewer than a thousand nature lovers daily. The average temperature on these hilltops is about 16 degrees Celsius.

In Uthai Thani province, selfie enthusiasts have checked in at the sunflower field in Huai Pa Pok of Ban Rai district. The field is filled with fully-grown sunflowers, an ideal site for photography.

Meanwhile, four twisters have been spotted near Ko Lipe in Satun province. The natural occurrence startled visitors and the local population alike, but didn't cause any harm to anyone or public facilities.
