5 years ago, the movement of "Exemplary Veteran Soldiers" in the province achieved many positive results. On the occasion of the 7th Congress of the "Exemplary Veteran Soldiers" competition, a reporter from Binh Duong newspaper interviewed Major General Tran Huu Tai, Chairman of the Provincial Association of Veteran Soldiers, about the outstanding results in directing, organizing the implementation of the competition and the movement of "Exemplary Veteran Soldiers" over the past 5 years.
- Please share the outstanding results of the provincial Veterans Association in implementing the exemplary veteran movement over the past 5 years in the province.
- During the period of 2019-2024, the provincial Association of Veterans has promoted the movement of "exemplary veterans" to officials and members, creating motivation for veteran members to strive and successfully fulfill the set goals and tasks, actively contributing to the economic and social development of the locality.
In exemplary emulation, officials, and veteran members in the province have successfully carried out the task of coordinating participation in reconciliation; coordinating with local militia and police to participate in patrols, guard duty, and maintain security and order; coordinating to empathize with individual subjects, slow progress. During the complex development of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Provincial Veterans' Association has encouraged its officers and members to strive together, wholeheartedly, with the entire population to prevent and control the epidemic, stabilize production, and develop the economy and society. As a result, the officers and members of the provincial veterans' association have contributed over 1.8 billion VND to the prevention and control of Covid-19, along with many other effective models.

Raise the spirit of self-reliance, self-strengthening, help each other in economic development, improve living standards, strive for sustainable poverty reduction, legally enrich, cadres and veteran members always strive to implement effective methods, models and achieve significant results. So far, the levels of the union have mobilized to build a fund with 40.6 billion VND. In 5 years, we have helped nearly 15,000 veteran households borrow a total of over 804 billion from the Social Policy Bank; 2,567 member households borrowed from the association fund. In addition, the levels of the movement, capital support, help each other with trees, breeds, labor days, interest-free or low-interest cash, help veterans develop their family economy; regularly mobilize cadres and members to participate in building social charity funds, contribute to ensuring social security in the province.
- Implementing the emulation movement exemplary veteran soldiers, how has the provincial level veteran soldiers' association deployed and coordinated with departments, sectors, and organizations?
- The provincial veteran association has actively coordinated with the fatherland front and various political and social organizations to implement movements and campaigns. They have implemented the Province Party Committee's Plan 02 on "People's participation in building a civilized and cultured lifestyle" and "Civilized Saturday". The association at all levels has coordinated efforts to mobilize officials and members to protect the environment, plant more trees, provide garbage bins, and dispose of garbage in designated areas.
With the responsibility and affection of the previous generation, the association has actively and proactively worked with the Youth Union in the province to carry out the task of educating the traditional love for the country, building ideals, aspirations, and cultural lifestyles for the younger generation; accompanying the younger generation in the province in organizing practical activities.
- Can you share some key tasks in the emulation movement in 2024-2029?
- To effectively implement the contents and objectives of the emulation movement in the 2024-2029 period, while turning the emulation movement into a driving force, encouraging and motivating all levels of associations and enthusiastic members to strive and contribute to the successful completion of the assigned political tasks, in the coming time, the association will focus on implementing a number of key tasks. Where there are veterans, there is the work of veterans; where there are associations, there is a movement to emulate veterans. Alongside this is the strengthening of leadership and guidance from the party committees at all levels, the standing committees, and the executive committees of the associations. In the work of emulation and commendation, it is necessary to perform the role of advisory and guidance of the emulation and commendation council well; regularly innovate the content, forms, and methods of organization and implementation.
The movement needs to focus on building a strong organization in terms of politics, ideology, and structure; fulfilling the political tasks of the organization; participating in building and defending the Party, the government, and the people; and protecting the socialist regime. The movement of "exemplary veteran soldiers" of the association is a part of the patriotic movement, focusing on implementing the movements and campaigns of the Central and local authorities...; at the same time, regularly discovering, nurturing, propagating and expanding models, good practices, effectiveness, collective and individual exemplary advanced elements, especially new factors to encourage and create spreading in the grassroots associations.
