Currently, about 900,000 migrant workers are living and working in Binh Duong Province. Aside from material life care, the care for spiritual life of the workers has been attended to by investments into infrastructure and activities of delights.
Various cultural institutions established
According to Nguyen Thi Minh Nghia, the Deputy Director of Culture, Sports and Tourism, institutions of culture and sports are among direct tools of the Party and the State to mobilize and lead the public. Those are also the place for entertainment, creativity, preservation and promotion of people characteristics and for health training for the cause of developing both intellectual and physical character of local people to practically contribute to the movement of the whole public in unity for cultural life construction. As the matter of fact, the province has constructed Center for Culture and Movies, Center for Sports servicing the communication and organization of art shows, contests, and movie shows for the public and workers.
Such centers have been established in all 9 districts, towns and Thu Dau Mot City for diversified, regular and enriched activities. At commune level, 30 such centers for culture and information have been established by various facilities, expenses and levels. Besides, 30 communes under the new rural area construction have set up investment projects to build up institutions of culture and sports by regulations of Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
My Phuoc Theatre in Ben Cat Town as invested by Becamex IDC is a location for recreation of local people and workers at weekends
Along with public cultural constructions of the State, enterprises have been investing thousands of billions of Vietnam dong to construct infrastructure servicing workers including Becamex IDC Corporation, Dau Tieng Rubber Corporation, Phuoc Hoa Rubber JSC. Many enterprises, individuals and units have made effective coordination with functional agencies and localities to sponsor the organization of various cultural activities shows, and sports competition.
Movements diversified
Making use of the available facilities servicing cultural entertainment of workers, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has annually organized shows of arts and movies to entertain workers in hostels. Mrs. Nguyen Thi Minh Nghia added that averagely 50 to 80 shows have been organized annually by mobile dissemination team of the province to service workers in industrial parks, making up 40 to 50 shows of music a year. Besides, Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with Binh Duong Provincial Labor Union and Industrial Parks Authority to organize activities and by rational coordination with departments and unions to organize contests, shows, sports competition, mobile information, clubs, and groups.
Ever since 2013, the Center for Young Worker Support of the province has practically organized 100 programs.
Do Van Phung, the Deputy Director of the center stressed: “The weekend program is constantly organized at sub-associations of young workers including group birthday celebration, folk-lore games, and arts shows to satisfy healthy spiritual life of young workers. Besides, we also coordinate with all-level youth’s league to establish meeting locations for migrant workers to gather them up in arts, cultural and sports events.”
In the Month of Workers (May), departments and agencies have constructed activities for workers. Provincial Youth’s League directed its grassroots to organize the caring policies and playgrounds for young workers in across districts, towns, Thu Dau Mot City, communes, wards, townships, and sub-associations of young workers in hostels. Besides, annual activities for young workers have been organized including the happy Sundays, talks, arts shows, market fair for young workers, gift giving away, praisal of young workers, healthcare and free medicine.
Tran Thanh Liem, the Deputy Secretary of Provincial Party Commmittee cum permanent Deputy Chair of Provincial People’s Committee informed that Binh Duong Province would continue to effectively organize social welfare policies to improve material and spiritual life of workers. Particularly, the province will concentrate on construction and investments into recreation zones to facilitate cultural, arts, sports, and community activities for workers. The province will also direct departments, sectors, and unions to carry out researches on measures to improve cultural life of workers.
